Dialogue in an American home
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 04:38 AM by Charlls
Its a bit long, but its worth it....

-Dad, why we attacked Iraq?
+Because they had Weapons of mass destruction, son
-But... the inspectors didnt find anything
+Because Iraquis did hide them well
-thats why we attack?
+yeah, invasions are better than inspections-
-But after invading, we havent found any WMD, right?
+Thas because Iraquis hide them very well. Dont worry son, we will find something, probably before the 2004 elections.
-Why would Iraq want all those WMD?
+for using them in war, you silly
-I dont get it. If they had WMD for using them in war, why didnt they used them against us?
+Probably because they didnt want anyone to know they had 'em, so they decided to die before defending themselves with the WMD.
-That doesnt sound logical dad. Why they would prefer to die before using WMD against us?
+Is another culture son, they doesnt have to have any logic.
-I dont know what you think, but i think that they didnt have any of those weapons our government said they had.
+Look, it doesnt matter. We had good reasons for invading them anyway.
-which ones?
+even if Iraq didnt had WMD, Saddam was a cruel dictator, and thats a good reason for invading another country.
-why? what does a cruel dictator to make his country to be invaded?
+Well, for example, he tortured his own people.
-More or less like China does?
+Dont compare China with Iraq, China is a comercial friend, where millions of their inhabitants work for slave wages, helping make US companies richer
-so, if a country allows its people to be exploited by US companies, its a good country, even if they torture its own people?
+Exactly!
-why Iraqui people were tortured?
+Just for political crimes, like criticizing their government. The people that criticized the government was put in jail and tortured.
-Isnt that the same that happens in China?
+I told you that China is different
-Whats the difference between China and Iraq?
+In Iraq was the Baath party who ruled, in China instead are the communists.
-Havent you told me that communism is bad?
+No!, only cuban communism is bad.
-How is bad cuban communism?
+well, for example they put in jail and torture anyone that criticizes the government
-Like in Iraq?
+Correct
-And china?
+I've told you already that China is a friend. Cuba isnt.
-Why Cuba isnt our comercial friend?
+Look, in the sixties, our government made some laws that made commerce illegal with them as long as they kept their communist economy, to convince them to become capitalist as we are.
-What if we took away those laws and stablish commerce with Cuba, wouldnt that convince them to become capitalists?
+Are you kidding me?
-what?
+besides, they dont have religious freedom in Cuba. And Saddam took power in a coup, which makes him ilegitimate.
-what is a coup?
+when a general took the power with violence instead of elections as we do in US
-Didnt Pakistan leader took power with a coup?
+you mean Musharraf? yeah, but Pakistan is our friend.
-How could Pakistan be our friend if their leader is ilegitimate?
+I havent said that Musharraf is ilegitimate
-Havent you just said that if a general took power with a coup, its ilegitimate?
+Only Saddam. Musharraf is our friend because he help us to invade Afghanistan
-Why did we invade Afghanistan?
+Because what they did to us in 9-11
-What did Afghanistan made to us in 9-11?
+in 9-11, four planes were kidnapped by 19 men, 15 of them were Saudi. 3 planes exploded against buildings and killed more than 3.000 people.
-And what does Afghanistan have to do with all these?
+There is where those bad men trained for years, under the direction of the Taliban
-Arent Taliban those fundamentalist muslims that chop the head and the limbs of people?
+Exactly, besides they opressed their women.
-Didnt gave them the Bush administration 43 millions in may 2001?
+Yes, but it was a prize for their fight against drugs
-Fight against drugs?
+yes. Taliban were very effective to avoid people to plant oppium poppy.
-And how they did such a good job?
+Easy. They hooked anyone planting poppy and chopped their heads and limbs.
-So, when they chopped the heads and limbs of people for that, it was correct, but not for other reasons?
+Correct. Besides they forced their women to use a veil that covered all the body.
-Doesnt that happen also in Saudi Arabia?
+No!, in Saudi Arabi is traditional clothing that covers the whole body.
-Whats the difference? it looks the same thing to me with another name.
+Dont compare Afghanistan with Saudi Arabia. Saudis are our friends.
-I thought you said that 15 of the 19 kidnappers were from Saudi Arabia
+Yes, but they trained in Afghanistan
-Who trained them?
+A very bad man called Osama Bin Laden
-He was from Afghanistan?
+Oh, no. He was from Saudi Arabia, but very, very bad.
-I just remember him. Wasnt he our friend a time ago?
+Only when he help us with the Muyahedines against the soviets in the eighties.
-Soviets? werent those from the communist imperium that mentioned Reagan?
+They arent Soviets anymore. URSS collapsed in the nineties, now they are capitalists and we call them 'russians'
-Soviets,.. i mean the russians, are our friends now?
+No. They were our friends when they stopped to be soviets. But they didnt help us to invade Iraq and we are angry with them now. We are also angry with the french and the germans.
-The frenchs and the germans are bad?
+well, not bad, but we are angry with them, so we red-baptize french fries and french toasts as freedom fries and freedom toasts.
-We always red-baptize food from countries that didnt do what we want them to do?
+Only from friend countries. Enemy countries get invaded.
-But wanst Iraq our friend in the eighties?
+Yes, back then
-So, Saddam was legitimate back then?
+No, but they fought against Iran, which made them our friends at the time.
-Why that made them our friends?
+Because Iran was our enemy
-Wasnt Saddam the one who gassed the Kurds?
+Yes, but since he fought against Iran, we look to other side to show them that they were our friends.
-So, if someone fights against an enemy of ours, it automatically becomes our friend?
+You are getting the idea!
-And if someone fights against a friend of ours, it automatically becomes our enemy?
+Sometimes that happens too. Anyway, if US companies can sell weapons to both sides, they made more money, which is better.
-why?
+Because war is good for the economy, which means that war is good for US. Besides God is on our side, so those that oppose war are sinners, anti-US communists. Now you understand why we attacked Iraq?
-I think i do. We attacked Iraq because God did want us to. Right?
+Exactly
-But.... how did we know that God wanted us to attack Iraq?
+Look, God talks to George W Bush and tell him what he has to do.
-Does that means that we invaded Iraq because George W Bush listen to the voices inside its head?
+Yes! finally you have understood how the world works. Now, close your eyes and get some sleep. Gnight!
-Gnight dad!
