Jesus Christ, am I the only one who HATES Kelly Clarkson's stupid songs?
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 10:25 AM by Matsubara
One after the other, they keep getting airplay, so I guess somebody is buying her crap.

First there was "Since U been Gone", an angry yelling thing at a boyfriend

Then there was "Because of You", an angry yelling thing at a boyfriend

Now there's "Never Again", an angry yelling thing at a boyfriend

Not that I mind that kind of subject matter - I loved Alanis Morissette, but Alanis at least varied her pacing, her tempo, THE VOLUME OF HER VOICE.

But not Kelly Clarkson. Nary a plaintive coo or a subtle hum, just endless YELLING.

How did this person win American Idol?

I didn't see the shows she was on, but damn, talk about an annoying, one-trick pony.

What's she so mad about anyway? That she's made millions from her crappy songs?

although she sang a lot of different stuff in the competition than she's released on her albums.

For al I know, she's a capable singer. I've just never heard her sing, just YELL.

By Christopher Rocchio, 07/03/2007

Kelly Clarkson's friendship with country singer Reba McEntire
has apparently turned into a professional relationship.

The original American Idol winner has signed a management deal
with Starstruck Entertainment, the Nashville, TN-based company
announced Monday. Starstruck CEO Narvel Blackstock -- McEntire's
husband -- will serve as Clarkson's personal manager.

MCENTIRE CONTINUES WAR WITH DIXIE CHICKS

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/mcentire%20continues%20war%20with%20dixie%20chicks_1000925

LATEST:Country star REBA MCENTIRE has weighed in against the DIXIE CHICKS again, after they criticised fans of her music.
The pair first came to blows after the group criticised US President GEORGE W BUSH's - a close friend of Republican MCEntire
- decision to go to war in Iraq. Although they later apologised, singer MARTIE MAGUIRE recently took back the apology and claimed the furore had helped them connect with their audience, adding an attack on MCEntire:
"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc (CD) changer with Reba MCEntire and Toby Keith.
We don't want those kind of fans. They limit what you can do." MCEntire is furious. She's quoted in the New York Daily News, saying, "(I'm) very disappointed. I've never turned my back on country music. "So when somebody talks bad about my music, my family, that does not set well with me. And when you bite the hand that feeds you, I just don't think that's very nice."

20. Thanks for that.
Well, that adds another bit of evidence to my theory connecting GOP loyalty to liplessness. LOL.

But anyway, I still don't think having the same manager makes her a freeper...

22. Clarkson and McIntire are buddies, not just managing her.
"Birds of a feather, flock together.." ;)

Pox Suxs show and a repuke like McIntire makes me suspicious.

That's probably where the redundant theme songs by Kelly are coming from!

I would rather listen to fingernails across a blackboard. In fact I would go so far as to say that anyone connected with American Idol, whose "stardom" has been so manufactured, makes me want to blow chunks.:bounce:

19. That's kind of unfair to judge people that way.
For all it's faults, that show does give breaks to a lot of talented people who probably wouldn't have gotten one.

The strange thing is that often the winner is someone who shouldn't be (like Taylor Hicks), and a runner-up ends up being a big star (Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson)

I personally think Jennifer Hudson is a pretty good singer.

Besides, most corporate music performers, "Idol" or not, are a product being sold, including the "authentic" ones like Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine.

she's the best thing to come out of American Idol.

Now, I know that's sort of like being the thinnest person at IHOP, but at least it's something.

disclaimer: I don't hate either one, really. I just don't understand people who attack fans of certain artists for their subjective taste.

27. A lot of people find Morrissette grating.
It doesn't bother me that people hate something I like - for the very reason you mention - it's subjective.

Another poster mentioned they hate show tunes. Well, I like a few show tunes.

To each their own.

I'm hardly bashing a genre, I'm not even bashing Clarkson. I'm just bashing her repetetive choices for singles and always yelling them the exact same way.

I'd like to hear her try something different so I can even know if I like her or not.

31. I love her
Sometimes a girl needs a little angry music to help the day go by. :hi:

BTW, Kelly Clarkson's first hit was "A Moment Like This" which is a happy song. She also had a hit with "Breakaway" which is another happy song. Personally, I like the angry songs better. And, just for clarification (because I have had this very conversation with my husband repeatedly), "Because of You" is an angry at parents song, not at the boyfriend. Also, I really love her song "The Trouble with Love Is" which has no yelling in it whatsoever.

Which I find ironic in light of her songs.

SHe was at Live Earth - my friend made a beverage run during her set. I listened to her and found her slightly entertaining but I wouldn't buy any of her albums or go see her in concert
