Bastard CAT HATERS!!!
Last night while Mr. Debi and I were enjoying watching the four stray kittens and their momma who have taken up residence under our deck I noticed a fifth, smaller, kitten. He didn't move when I walked over to it and picked it up. He was nothing but skin and bones (and YOUNG, still has blue eyes) and has a terrible case of road rash on his face/neck. Yep, some cat-hating bastard pitched this youngin from their car out in the country. :grr:

Even though I'm allergic to cats (but seem to be attracted to them) I brought the Little one in and bathed him, tried to get him to eat some soft food but he couldn't do it and got him to drink some water (he's just learning how to lap up liquids).

Trip to the vet this morning cost $40.00 w/a tube of derma-clense (the rash is infected) and two cans of formula and a new bottle. He refused to take the bottle but attempted to drink from a bowl - as long as he eats right?

Hopefully in a few days he'll be strong enough to get around. I can keep him in my bathroom during the days and on our sun porch at night - but allergies and asthma keep us from doing more than that.

WHAT KIND OF FUCKING IDIOT THROWS A KITTEN FROM THEIR CAR???? x(

2. Who knows
I just don't understand - I mean if you don't want/can't take care of the damn cat bring it back to where you got it or at the very least take it to the Humane Society - at least the kitten will be cared for and an adoption attempted before :scared: it may have to be euthanized...what sick fucks would rather have an animal suffer before inevitable death?

ARRgghh, POS!!!

3. We foster rescued dogs.
I don't know the hell some have been through, but some arrive really fucked up. Luckily, most adapt to their new surroundings quickly without many mental traumas though and with a bit of food, exercise, and care respond physically as well.

Good luck with your kitten.

4. Thanks, I wish I could do more but I can't let them into my home
That's what probably drives me the most crazy about it. If I had the funds/physical ability I would take them all in and take care of them the way they should be. As it is I am sneezy and wheezy and everybody is miserable.

It's just so cruel, I mean, we take care of our pets (and the birds and the deer and the squirrels and the turkeys in the winter and the stray cats AND the drop-offs/dumps) why can't others be a little responsible?

:grr:

The little one is sleeping now, I'll have to wake him to move him in to my bathroom soon - the temperature is rising and he can't be on the sun porch much longer. Poor thing.

5. Thank you for taking the poor little thing in
It's so hard to believe that there are people who do those things. What in hell goes through their heads?

I'd like to pitch them from a moving car and see how they like it. :grr:

There are no foster homes that I am aware of and as soon as he's healthy it's probably off to the Humane Society

I'm just SO pissed off!

7. Perhaps you could post a notice at the vet's
Someone who is already an animal lover might adopt him, especially if they know his story.

11. The vet can't help - anymore than he already does
If he let us he'd have to let everybody and he'd be overwhelmed. I don't blame him. He regularly takes in pregnant strays and tries to find homes for the kittens. He keeps his costs low and gives advice (and his office called one year looking for some kittens...haha they knew we might be able to deliver!). I'll starting talking to people tonight at the fireworks.

15. Go to petfinder.com and post the info in the classifieds
You don't have to be a shelter or rescue group to post there. My vet in Iowa had a beagle who was just left there--the owners refused to pay for care and then just told the vet to keep him. The vet asked me if I wanted him. I really couldn't have a second dog in the parsonage, but I took him temporarily (at that time, our vet was sending dogs to ISU for research--and I didn't want that to happen to this guy), and posted an ad on Petfinder. A nice couple from Ames called, said their beagle had died at the age of 16 a year earlier, and they were ready for a new beag. I asked for a vet reference, and that they pay for shots. They did, and now that beag has a good home. They send me Christmas cards with his pic each year.

But I digress. Go to Petfinder. com and post info.

9. Try an eye-dropper for the formula
I've rescued babies before & have not had success with the bottle, but an eye-dropper (or syringe) works. You can get them from the vet.

13. Got one - he's actually doing okay just lapping it up out of a bowl
He's been alternating between the formula and water (which gets the water all cloudy so I rinse out the bowl and put new water in it). I just checked on him and he's almost falling asleep over the food. Looks like he used the litter box so things are looking up.

10. If I ever catch an animal dumper I am going to jail.
It happens all too often around here. To me these "people" are sub-human and need to get a wake up call delivered to them. Maybe a little pain to give them an idea what they are inflicting on the poor animal they drop off. What do they think will happen to the animal? It is going to die slowly from hunger or run over by a vehicle or fall prey to a wild animal. In the case of some dogs it may be shot.
All this because they are not responsible enough to take the animal to the shelter. Maybe a good ass whooping will make them realize the easy thing to do is be responsible and take the animal to a shelter?

14. I'll be there right next to you
The suffering these poor animals endure. You can see it in their eyes. Even after they've been bathed and fed and are in a cozy bed I can just feel them wondering when the good will end and they'll get sent back out to the bad.

Maybe we should drop the fuckers off in the middle of the wilderness wet and cold w/no food and then put a couple of wild animals out there with them. Okay, good luck to you and all. :grr:

16. Ever see a poor animal "waiting" for them to come back?
I have seen it many times, the animal will be sitting by the side of the road waiting for their ride back home. They often die right there after being hit by a car.
I like your idea better than mine, if kidnapping wasn't such a serious offense I would drive them out to the Okefrnokee swamp, take their clothing and deposit them right in the middle. Have fun boy, you're free now! http://www.fws.gov/okefenokee/

18. But first make sure they are good and hungry and cold and wet
fuckers deserve to suffer the same way they made these animals suffer. Oh, and don't 'deposit' them. Slow you car down to about 5 mph and pitch them from an open door. Oh, did the little animal abuser get a road rash??? Tough

23. More fools they. Two of our best cats ever were drop-offs.
The saddest thing is that on eof the drop-offs never got the proper shots as a kittewn and had been exposed to feline distemper before he came to us. He constantly fought respitory infections and died too young.

24. Assholes like that totally disgust me!
That's kind of how I got one of my cats. The neighbor of a woman I used to work with threw Katie over the fence into the woman's yard. She already had 4 cats and couldn't keep Katie, so she brought her to work because she knew I wouldn't be able to resist (:-) ). Fortunately, she was in good shape, and she's been with us for about 8 years now.

And blessings on you and Mr. Debi for taking care of these furbabies, even with your allergies and asthma. :pals:

36. Is this an ongoing problem at your home?
If you get regular drop offs would a security camera be able to catch them in the act? In my state (Tennessee) the dumping of animals is felony animal abuse. Maybe you could catch one or two and they could answer for their crimes?

37. We own 12 acres that inculdes a wetland preserve and woodlands
the County owns an additional 60someodd acres of wetlands connect to our land and a nursery owns 80some acres connected to our property. There is sooo many places that people could drop their pets. The poor kitten was the first of this year.

The nearest neighbors house is a half mile away, only about 5 homes in the 10 mile stretch I find animals on. Too many good spots for them to hide while they do their dumping.
