One man sustained life-threatening injuries Friday after a shooting police
say may have been a case of road rage on East Grant Road and North Campbell Avenue.
From a nearby restaurant, witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing two vehicles,
one a brown four-door car and the other a dark-colored SUV, in the right-hand turn lane of
westbound Grant Road around 1 p.m., said Tucson Police Sgt. Mark Robinson.

The man is expected to live, Robinson said, partly because two University Medical Center
surgeons were in the immediate area of the incident and started providing treatment at once.

Hot Town, Summer in the City

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

1. This is the same intersection that the surgeon general shot that dude
"Carmona, who holds a UA master’s degree in public health, made headlines even before his appointment. Carmona rappelled out of a helicopter to execute a cliff-side rescue of a MedEvac helicopter crash survivor. That event inspired a made-for-TV movie. In 1999, he stopped at a traffic accident at Campbell and Grant in Tucson. Carmona quickly realized it was a hostage situation and a woman’s life was in danger. He shot and killed the armed suspect. According to Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, the dead man had just murdered his own father and was apparently on his way to kill someone else."
