n the latest issue of Vice Magazine, an artist gives her first-person account of meeting the King of Pop at a chaotic “fan appreciation day” in Tokyo a few months back. Crazy part isn’t that she dropped $3500 for the face time, but that she was one of 300 (?!) superfans who paid the sum to hang alone in a little room with MJ – and by “alone” I mean alongside 15 bodyguards & handlers. If you’re in New York, the writer -- artist Meredith Danluck -- is showing her film of the experience at the Renwick Gallery until June 23rd. Sad part: she didn’t remember to ask the man her one allotted question…

“It was the fastest 30 seconds of my life…One of the rules was that we were allowed to ask Michael one question—like he was some kind of oracle. “Michael Jackson, who will I marry?” In all the chaos of it though, I didn’t even think to ask him anything. I barely even spoke to him. I barely even treated him like a human being, because everyone else in the room made him seem like such an object.”
