New records by old favorites:
I went rekkid shoppin' today, and picked up a couple of 2003 releases I'd been meaning to buy for a while now. The new albums by Wire and My Bloody Valentine.

The new Wire is exceptional, probably the best I've heard from them since "154." And the new MBV -- well, it's right up there with "Loveless" for me; not quite as good as "Ecstasy and Wine," but what is?

1. Wait a minute.....MBV has a NEW album out?!!
Really? When the fuck did THAT happen?!

I LOVE Wire...one of my all time faves....but I was terribly disappointed with all of those "Read and Burn" EP's from 2001-2002. And I never like those synthpop recs they put out in the 80's. (Except for "Eardrum Buzz," a great tune...)

4. As I mentioned to vi5, I was wrong.
In re: Wire, you may not like this album, then. It's a comp of their recent EPs -- still kicks the crap out of "The Ideal Copy," I'm sure you'd agree....

2. Huh?!?!? My Bloody Valentine New Album?
Don't mean to be presumptuous but I think you are mistaken.

Kevin Shields I believe did some soundtrack work but other than that, the lack of a MBV album since the classic Loveless is one of the music industries great white whales.

3. Oops.
I found an online citation. I was wrong.

I was going by the copyright date on the record (2003). Seems "Isn't Anything" was a pre-"Loveless" record that I just hadn't heard before.

Screw it. Still a great album. Still not as good as the first record with Bilinda.

5. Aaahhhhh....yes....Isn't Anything...
Not quite Loveless, but still heads and shoulders above the work of many other bands.
