Boy Band Memorabilia Auctioned Off To Hundreds
<snip>

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Platinum and gold records, autographed posters and high-end furniture all went "Bye Bye Bye" on Tuesday. So did expensive glass art, assorted computer components and a key to the city of Orlando.

Hundreds of bidders packed a downtown building for the Chapter 11 sale of Lou Pearlman's assets. They included memorabilia from the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, the two boy bands Pearlman created in the '90s that made him famous, and several of his lesser-known acts.

The auction was populated mostly by middle-aged men, not the screaming young girls who drove Pearlman's bands to multi-platinum success.

Pearlman hasn't had a legitimate U.S. hit in years, and allegedly owes various people and banks more than $400 million. His whereabouts are unknown. He hasn't been seen or heard from in months, nor responded to multiple subpoenas.

<snip>

Everything he left behind was on the block Tuesday, from the ordinary and cheap (first aid kits for $12.50 apiece, a Daffy Duck figurine for $50) to red-carpet opulent ($2,000 for a large entertainment center with glass doors, $18,000 for a five-piece Chihuly glass art series).
