shouldn't it just be "frige"?

1. I can't be bothered with that because I'm too busy...
trying to figure out why "baloney" is really "balogna" and why "hot dogs" are really "frankfurters" and why "ketchup" is really "catsup". Deli meats are so confusing.

6. That I can't tell ya
I do know the hot dog was invented in the late 1800s — by a Coney Island vendor, legend has it — and was originally called the "hot link."

11. Funny....
I was watching an old TV show and they spelled it wrong: they were at a "refridgeration" plant where the baddies were. Being the spelling nazi that I am, I noticed it right away, and kept yelling at the TV screen to tell them they spelled it wrong. However, they couldn't hear me. ;)

17. because we Americans take foreign words and bastardize them -- excuse me, I mean
"make them our own."

For example, the French word "surveillance."

"Surveil" has become a verb in American English.

Ugh. Boorish, arrogant, pretentious Americans.

:patriot:
