Poll question: If you've seen my music posts..
how would you classify me in terms of music snobbery or elitism? I'm seeing if the results differ from a long time ago. :-)

1. BTW
I'd say I'm #4 - not accepting of all kinds of music but very openminded. But it can be interesting to see what others think.

2. I chose this one...

You are not a snob or elitist, but I believe you are picky...I know, that I've recommended Life of Agony to you many times, but I have never heard any feedback whatsoever. So I imagine you to be neither a snob/elitist, but picky....:D

3. Oh, sorry I didn't get back to you
I run across a lot of artists, so I can forget. Thanks for the reminder. What kind of music are they? :hi:

5. hmm, LOA
is hard rock....the lyrics I believe, are very powerful/emotional...about the only complaint I hear, is a dislike for the lead singer, Keith Caputo...he is a lot like Zach Delaroacha in that regard...you either like them, or hate them. There is hardly, if ever...any grey area with LOA....

7. Sometimes when I don't like something, I..
will just not say anything to be polite. But I didn't do that with you, and I know you don't mind feedback. I only occasionally like thrash/metal, and I have to say that I don't think I'd like the group.

10. Thats fine, :)
If you don't like them, no hard feelings at all....:D I just like pushing LOA, because hardly anyone knows about them....:D What is funny, is that I saw them in concert in 97, and I thought they absolutely sucked...then I listened to their cds in 2000....and what a HUGH difference, and I fell in love with them. I'd say they are 1, or 2 levels as hard as Nirvana was/is.

I like their other stuff as much. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. I like exchanging recs with you.

6. Obsessing about snobbery is a huge waste of time. Like what you like
Those who put on airs for liking a great obscure band are just as lame as posturing anti-hipsters who love to point out how they like the most commercial music. Just listen to what you like to hear! I'm not saying your post is about that, but the aforementioned behavior really nettles me.

9. Agreed
I don't obsess over what people think about how snobby I am, but I like seeing what people think for fun. I really don't care if it's commercial or indie - if I like it, I have no problem enjoying it.

glad you think that about me. I try not to go too far the other way, though (accepting everything.) But I do give music a fair hearing, regardless of kind.

16. I seem to remember
(to want to remember?) that your music threads usually don't get snitty. Which is cool -- why make a big deal out of things that don't need to be*?

This bespeaks a certain degree of open-mindedness and forbearance in itself, without reference to particulars (that I can't seem to call to mind).

*: My perspective; others differ.
