Have you ever met an "ignorant liberal?"
I can feel the dander in the air from many a hair follicle standing on end :P... but seriously, have you ever spoken someone who held liberal views, but in the most naive, understudied way?

I can say that I've met one woman who I would classify as an ignorant liberal - a hair dresser I met in Boulder some years ago. She believed that the Bush Administration (this is pre-Iraq War, now) had ordered hit men to chase down Jesse Jackson because he complained so bitterly about 2000 election fraud. She then proceeded to tell me about her client the CIA agent who let it slip that he was on some type of super-secret mission in Colorado... that he somehow felt free to tell his hairdresser about. :eyes:

Anyway... I've met plenty of ignorant conservatives, but not many like the above. How about you?

2. ...
:spray: But seriously there are ignorant people in all walks of life, but if they are voting for "my guys" then I tend to be a little more tolerant of them

4. It's like Feng Shui.
Their rationalizations are silly, but they can still arrange furniture in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

5. One kid in my history class.
Hmmm... A CIA mission to Colorado? I kinda doubt that. Maybe she was thinking of the CIA working with the Colorado Party?

7. Yes, many of them.
Some who are liberal (or Dems) because they're parents were, and they've never bothered to really think about it.

Some who are liberal but, in the truest sense of the word, uneducated and ignorant, but know somehow that helping each other, supporting the community, and being fair are important.

And many who are not very educated or intelligent, but who grew up in a liberal church and know that, above all else, we should be nice to one another. Some of these might have problems with homosexuality (but have liked every gay person they met), or non-white people (but still recognize that they have a right to exist) or have an unnuanced view of politics, but they have their hearts in the right place (and for most of those that i know, they live in white Wisconsin, and so have little contact with gays, minorities, or more worldly things, and so there's a bit of fear, but still a very cool recognition that they have a right to exist, whether it's gays, minorities, goths, or jazz musicians).

But for the most part, the majority of liberals I have known over the years are intelligent and reasoned (even if only high school education), know what's going on in the world, and think for themselves and come to their decisions on their own, not because someone told them to believe it.

Whereas like your experience, most of the conservatives I've met are ignorant in the worst sense of the word.

And most of the ignorant I've met are conservatives.
