One of my fave Python moments: Dreary Fat Boring Old spitting in her purse
I love the Git sketch!

Especially John Cleese as Dreary Fat Boring Old, just standing there for the most part, until he spits chunks into his purse.

Fucking hilarious!!!

Another favorite is a rarely, if ever quoted sketch - Flying Lessons. I don't know why no one quotes that one.

Mr Chigger You're on a wire.

Mr Anemone I'll show you whether I'm on a wire or not. Give me the 'oop.

Mr Chigger What?

Mr Anemone Oh, I don't suppose we know what an 'oop is. I suppose pater thought they were a bit common, except on the bleedin' croquet lawn.

Mr Chigger Oh, a hoop.

Mr Anemone 'Oh an hoop.' (taking hoop) Thank you, your bleeding Highness. Now. Look. (he waves hoop over head and feet)

Mr Chigger Go on, right the way along.

Mr Anemone All right, all right, all right. (he moves hoop all the way along himself allowing the wire to pass through obvious gap in hoop's circumference). Now, where's the bleeding wire, then?

Mr Chigger That hoop's got a hole in.

Mr Anemone Oh Eton and Madgalene. The hoop has an hole in. Of course it's got a hole in, it wouldn't be a hoop otherwise, would it, mush!

Mr Chigger No, there's a gap in the middle, there.

Mr Anemone Oh, a gahp. A gahp in one's hhhhhoop. Pardon me, but I'm off to play the grand piano.

Mr Chigger Look, I can see you're on a wire - look, there it is.

Mr Anemone Look, I told you, you bastard, I'm not on a wire.

And then the brilliance of Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion going to see John Paul Sartre.

1. Love Python.
One of my faves was a little animation of a guy sitting at the television, and different devices would pop out and mess with his eyes, like a hammer. Then, his wife tells him, "'Enry, stop watching that television set, I told you it's bad for your eyes!".

:D

3. There's not much in either
that you can work into a conversation very well — unless you've just had your house painted with warm pus or you're inviting people to a disemboweling party.

Then again, I've often wanted to say to someone, "ROTTEN! ROTTEN! You're NO BLOODY USE AT ALL! YOU MAKE ME SICK, YOU WEED!"

:D

"Good morning, Mrs. Cutout."

4. I can think of a few instances where
that that would be quite appropriate.

Hey -- I said 'appropriate', not 'acceptable'.

Bet you can think of a few, too.

:P

10. If one is to do it properly,
one must paint the house with warm pus prior to throwing a disemboweling party. It's just the way it's done, man.

well, that and saying to someone, "ROTTEN! ROTTEN! You're NO BLOODY USE AT ALL! YOU MAKE ME SICK, YOU WEED!"

11. Python were famous for marvelous insults
My favorite:

"DON'T give me that, you snotty-faced heap of parrot droppings! SHUT YOUR FESTERING GOB, you tit! Your type makes me PUKE! You VACuous, TOFFEE-nosed, MALodorous PERvert!"

:D

19. "Pardon me, but I'm off to play the grand piano."
No one ever gets the reference. It's fun to say it like Chapman, nevertheless.

"off to play the GraaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnD Peeeee-ahhhhh-No!"

20. That is one of the funniest lines in the entire oeuvre, just cuz of how he says it.
Though also funny because of what it means.

And the way he says "you bastard" later is fucking hilarious!

I about shit my pants the first time I heard it. There are a lot of great "you bastards" out there, but the one in this skit is perfect!
