Insomnia SUCKS. I think I'd rather be sick.
At least when I'm sick I can get some sleep. It's 2 a.m. and I'm wide awake. I've puttered around the bedroom, started copying a DVD onto my husband's computer (yes, we own the DVD) and played with the two cats are upstairs. I've tried to sleep, but just toss and turn. I finally took a desperation Benadryl a few minutes ago and will wait for it to kick in. I HATE THIS!!!!!

1. Lightweight.
:P

Call me when you've gotten no more than 15 or 16 hours of sleep in a span of two weeks. THAT is rough.

3. I'm not even really sure.
That was a few years ago though, thankfully I haven't had insomnia that bad since.

4. Check your thyroid
could be hyperthyroidism. This is a classic symptom, insomnia. OR could be from too much caffeine? Caffeine interferes with the sleep-wake cycling. I gave up caffeine almost 3 years ago.

Just a couple of ideas.

5. I suffer from insomnia and out of wack sleep patterns
It does suck. I was up around 3 and am ready to crash around dinner time. Even if I try to stay up late to break the cycle, I'm wide awake by 3 and feel like shit the next day. Sorry, I have no solutions but offer my sympathies.

11. same here
I go from being on schedule to waking up at like 6 or 7 at night and going to bed at like noon etc. It can be an effing nightmare. Then other times I'll be exactly how you just mentioned. Up waaaay early and barely able to make it to dinner time.

7. Read about melatonin
http://www.melatonin.com/
It was recently recommended to me by a man and his wife when he found out he had to have surgery, and they were having trouble sleeping.
I read that you really only need 0.5 mg (read Wikipedia, too- it has lots of info) The melatonin I bought are 3 mg., so I think I'll cut the tablets in half, and in half again.

9. try suffering from it your entire life
that would be me - I can either take pills to sleep, or stay awake two nights to fall asleep naturally - and it has been that way since I was in grade school

15. I am very much used to it
it drives the people in my life insane though, since I never have any regular sleeping hours and tend to sleep 3 hours here, 4 hours there, or maybe not at all or maybe all day :o

I went to sleep at 7pm on accident and woke up at 3am. I cannot go back to sleep and I feel feverish!

12. I had bad insomnia after surgery
it drove me over the edge. The only thing that helped was melatonin and Trader Joe's night time tea.

BTW, the cheapest place to get melatonin is at Costco.

14. You and I will be a great pair today...
..I woke up with a coughing fit, after only 6 hours of sleep.

After 5 more hours of coughing, I just took some Tussinex (prescription cough syrup). My sleep schedule will now be messed up for another week. :(
