2. I was hoping that storm off the coast would dump some rain in the mountains of NC
I would love to go run a river. I'm about to go crazy here.

3. This weekend is the Potomac Downriver Race
if you guys are in town...

I'm not going to paddle, just watch the festivities with my family.

8. I'm so into racing, first I've got a very, very slow boat
Edited on Thu May-10-07 10:02 AM by eyepaddle
and I really enjoy just goofing around. For me it's more of a party than a competition. I have competed in a freestyle rodeo (6th out of 10) but that was more just to feel like a full-on part of the event than any burning drive to win. I'll probably compete again this year.

What's that course near your home again? Is it the one with all the inflatable/customizable features? I've got some vacation coming up this summer and that might be something I'd be into checking out.

Is it the NWC or something?

On edit oops, that should be NOT so into racing!"

9. You're talking about the USNWC
In Charlotte, NC. From what I hear, it's a fun place to hang out for a day.

5. Up here in MN a lot of stuff is drying up
hopefully the spring rains will keep coming and things will kick back up. The course in Wausau WI is always a good time, but they only release a few times a month.

I've got my touring boat to keep up with exercising, but I think I might do some Lake Superior SCUBA diving this summer and broaden out my hobbies. For the record, I am already a diver, I just have never gone in freshwater and really ahven't gone since I got seriously into kayaking. I think I'm far enough along w/ paddling that I don't need to worry about losing focus--I can take a weekend off and still feel legit.

6. Freshwater diving is...well..kinda boring.
I dove Tablerock Lake in MO a few years ago. All I saw were a bunch of bass and empty beer cans.

10. There are shipwrecks on Lake Superior, and the water clarity
rivals saltwater. I'm not certified to go inside any of the wrecks, but you don't really need to. And a couple of them are in so close you just swim out to them.

I don't see myself diving in any one of MN's other 15,000 lakes though.

11. I've got to get back in the water myself.
I used to date a dive shop owner in WA state, so I had about 6 months or so of free rentals and fills. I was diving Puget Sound and Hood Canal on damn near a daily basis.
