Those "singing" Halmark cards... I can hardly wait to go out
on Mothers Day and hear "I Feel GOod" six hundred times because a mess of people who lack imagination will think it cute to buy something so "unique" for their mothers.....

And then there is the Ironic crowd, you know, all dressed in black and sulking around "dear old mom" that will buy them because they want to be ironic...

Oh well, I'm bitter, jaded and really really not in a holiday mood....

1. The whole "Mother's Day" holiday is a scam.
For me, Mother's Day is every day.

Not just one day where she gets flowers or some junk that hucksters can't sell any other time.

3. I can so totally relate BUT....
my blind 95 year old grandmother with horrible glaucoma will find the card a smashing hit, just as she did with the one I gave her on her b-day in Feb.

She finds the combo of printed message and lyrics to be "FUN".

:eyes:

Look, I hate this schmaltzy stuff as well as you do, sharing the bitter jaded gene, but there is a place for this stuff. And really, WTF stuff DO you get a 95 yr old woman??! Even taking her out for brunch isn't always a sure thing since her health sometimes dictates that we just stay in her apartment that day (My sister from CA claimed the flower thang...)

4. I better not GET one!
x(

I did get a hand tie-dyed silk scarf from my daughter today as an early Mother's Day gift. And I also got a potted petunia - a craft from the Daisy Scouts, which my daughter belongs to.

I do not need anything at all from my son, since he bought me a KitchenAid stand mixer for my birthday. He may never need to get me another gift as long as I live!

I am lobbying my daughter and husband for breakfast in bed on Sunday.
