I singed a slight hole in the carpet. Any advice for me?
I was burning incense with a small coal, and it popped and landed on the carpet. I thought I had gotten it all before burning a hole, but I was wrong. I now have a singed hole about as big around as my middle finger. How is the best way to mend it so it isn't as visible. I don't have any extra carpet and I live in an apartment building that I rent from.

So far, I haven't touched it.

Any advice?

1. Here you are:

Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Steps

1Step OneCut or sand away the burned ends of the carpet fibers. Cut fibers will simply blend in if they're only slightly shorter than the surrounding carpet.

2Step TwoCut some carpet fibers from an inconspicuous portion of carpet elsewhere in the room or from a matching carpet remnant and attach them to the cut fibers using household glue.

13. .
A good place to snip a bit off of the carpet is in the corner of a closet, if they're carpeted.

4. Call a carpet cleaning company.
They'll take a little bit from a closet and blend it into the existing carpet. It's a minor, relatively routine repair and no big deal at all.

9. Get the rest of the mess cleaned up...
...before your parents get home, and hope that they don't notice the hole in the carpet. You knew you weren't supposed to have a party.

10. I've done that with sparks from the fireplace
A couple I've been able to correct with the procedure someone else described above -- get up close to the carpet and snip little bits of the burnt part. If it's not burnt all the way down to the pad you should be able to at the very least lessen the look of it. I found that snipping with the tip of the scissors pointing down rather than horizontal to the carpet works best. I have way too much experience with this :-/
