The last time it was this cold was 1957. And befre that, the 19th century.

I didn't sign up for Minnesota weather in Massachusetts. Normal high is 35-40, lows mid-20s. We have been sitting in the single digits and below for days. It SUCKS!

here in the lower Hudson Valley in NY . . . here's what's in store for us over the next 24 hours:

Today: Continued bitterly cold. Overcast skies and windy. Wind chills approaching -15F. High 13F. Winds NNW at 25 to 35 mph.
Tonight: Generally clear. Near record low temperatures. Dangerous wind chills may approach -30F. Low around -5F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy skies with gusty winds. Cold. Dangerous wind chills approaching -30F. High 17F. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph.

yeah . . . it's cold . . .

12. those folks are crazy,
but it sort of looks like fun, too. I think it is about 15 here in Pittsburgh, but it felt much colder when I was salting my walk.

15. -19 degrees with 40 mph gusts in central Maine
child's play. -57 degrees according to the NWS chart. I thought about putting on my winter coat to go out to the garage this morning, but I am waiting for real winter weather to set in. I did put socks on though :)

28. It was pretty much the same here
We have quilts on the car (we really really need a garage)and eventually it's started every day. Sometimes it took til noon but it started!

It's downright balmy now. I think it's up to +8!!!

My ... um ... what's the word for the son of your mother's ex-husband (not your father)? Ex-stepbrother? went to Antarctica as part of a scientific expedition. He was at the South Pole in summer (I guess it's summer; it's as cold as winter here). Apparently they have (or had) a June 21st tradition: sit in a sauna for an hour and then streak around the world.
