1. THEN DON'T TALK SO FUCKING LOUD!!!
My God, man, I'm only three inches away from you, standing right behind you with a microphone.

Of course I can hear you.

4. They were eaten by wolves
It was a traumatic experience that's made me a bit jumpy and turned me into a loud talker, which leads to some rather embarrassing conflicts.

5. If you're talking out loud in a public place, how can he help but hear you?

And if you want privacy, go to a private place.

6. Sometimes morons mess up our Saturday Morning Coffee
at a coffee shop by blabbing on their cell phones; and I can't help but eavesdrop that (just about 100% of the time) their conversations are meaningless, unimportant, but extremely rude to those nearby.

8. I Make It A Point
to eavesdrop on public cell phone conversations. Well....at least until I figure out that the one I'm listening to is one of the 99.999999% of public cellphone conversations that mean absolutely nothing.

12. I am reminded from a scene from either a movie or TV show, can't remember the one, but
it involves someone talking on a cell phone rather loudly, so one of the main characters turns around and keeps looking at the guy, grinning and nodding, and commenting on things he says.

"Oh, I know! That's just like Dave!"

"He's crazy! Did he really do that?"

9. Stare at him while you're talking
And then continue to stare after you've hung up.

See what happens.

17. It's actually a Drive-By Truckers lyric
Sometimes I forget that Southern Rock Opera isn't universally recognized, despite being one of the best albums ever.

18. I realize its probably a copycat thread anyway. That's a Drive by Truckers lyric? which song?
I've seen em live about three times, but sometimes live you can't pick up the words.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Southern Rock Opera. There's a beautiful book inside filled with lyrics and paintings / illustrations.

ps I'm glad at least one person realizes this is a copycat thread

15. Excellent advice my friend
from one who has to listen to others conversations without even coming close to "eavesdropping." I find cell phone users incredibly rude.

16. I am torn on the issue of cell phones in public places. On the one hand,
it is annoying to hear people jabber on to their friends on cell phones, loudly carrying on apparently one-sided converstaions.

But on the other hand, if their friend was there in person chatting with them, it would be twice as annoying because I would hear BOTH sides of the conversation.

I usually try to keep my cell phone conversations quiet, quick, and low key. But that's because I hate talking on the phone in public, lol. Its not a courtesy thing.

As long as someone is talking at a conversational level, it couldn't make a difference to me. And on that note, just like you can't expect people in earshot not to listen in when you are talking to a friend in a public place, you shouldn't expect them not to listen in when you are doing the same thing via a cell phone.

20. I find the OP's argument a hoot
Carry on a conversation easily overheard and then complain that someone is listening. It would be like strolling down the street naked and whining that people are looking at you.

I refer to a cell phone as a leash. I don't have one, don't want one, don't need one, I'm retired. My wife has one for safety reasons. I have a CB in the truck in case I have problems on the road.

If one does not want me to hear their conversations then they can stay far away from me.

It looks like it was a copycat thread from yesterday to mock another

23. Then get up and go somewhere private.
If I have a conversation with anyone in a coffee shop, I can expect that other people can hear. It's not particularly polite to listen, but it would be my choice to go somewhere more private.
