Poll question: *Cooking or baking?
Which (if any) do you prefer to do?

*For the purposes of this poll, cooking is defined as the preparation of a meal while baking is defined as the preparation of desserts and confections.

1. Baking.
I'm a pretty decent baker, but I suck at cooking.

I despise cooking and have no imagination at it. Luckily, the SO loves to cook. :)

6. I'm better at baking
I'm still OK at cooking but not as good as the sweets. I tend to overcook meat sometimes. And veggies, making a mush. Cakes, candy, brownies no problem.

2. Cooking, hands down...
I rock out at that, but baking is hit or miss with me. Regardless, I am continually working on both. :)

27. exactly! that's a very good way to describe it...
... I love doing both, but if I feel upset or anxious, baking something really helps. I wonder why that is? Any ideas?

9. I like both equally.
I do more cooking than baking though. Baking usually results in more calories.

13. I gotta go with cooking
because whatever I bake, I can't eat - I gotta lose quite a few pounds just to get to the level of "obese" on the Dr's wall chart.

Bummer. Oh, well, at least I quit smoking
:(

16. I love to cook, I don't enjoy baking.
Baking seems too finicky and defined. Cooking, at least to me is more freeform. I also know how to recover from cooking disasters, but once a baking disaster happens you have to start all over.
I'm not much of a sweets person either. The problem is that my wife is and she always volunteers to bring a dessert to parties, leaving me to figure out what the hell to make.

17. I like to cook, but I LOVE
to bake. If I could live on pies and cakes and cookies, I'd be a happy camper.

I'd also weigh 480 lbs.

Oh, well.

The improvisational nature of cooking and the more disciplined approach to baking.

There are joys in each métier.

24. I'm too loosey-goosey for baking. When I cook I can improvise, adding or
substituting ingredients until I get the dish I'm after. Only rarely have I had a complete failure. But baking is so precise. I enjoy doing it sometimes but most of the time I don't have the patience. And even when you follow the directions carefully a number of factors can still ruin the end product. My success rate is much higher with cooking.

25. cooking is so not worth my effort
I'm perfectly happy eating a lot of raw foods. and I don't like getting splattered by hot things, or slaving over a pot or pan.

Baking has a much better work:reward ratio.

26. I love to cook, but seldom bake,
like Rachael Ray always says. Maybe it's because I don't much like sweets. I'll take on most anything when it comes to cooking, find it relaxing, but the fussiness of baking is not, maybe because I'm not good at it. I'll make cookies, but get the break and bake kind, which are as good as anything I could come up with, with a lot less work...:D
