My beer froze. Should I toss it in the microwave?

an hour or two ago I threw a bottle in the freezer so it would be cold when I finished what I was working on. I forgot about it until now, only to find the neck had filled with ice, trapping all the beer down in the bottom of the bottle. I've never actually had that happen before.

1. I did that once with a can of beer.
The can opened up and I had frozen beer all over the freezer. Methinks that putting it in the microwave would NOT be a good idea!

3. that happened with cans of soda at our house all the time
when I was a kid ... I always got a HUGE kick out of it. My mom--not so much

But I'm sure you're right about the microwave

2. No
You'd need to remove the cap if you tried of course, since it's metal, but if you did it would likely push up through the neck and overflow. Besides, beer bottles are not microwave safe and could explode on ya. Helluva mess that would be.

6. and since it's the non-alcohol that freezes, the beer that's left will be stronger

:woohoo:

It's weird, though--I've never had this happen with a beer in the freezer, even with the 3 point semi-beer I lived with while living in Oklahoma :)

5. fortunately the ice floe at the top just gave way, so I won't have to resort to such drastic
measures ;)

Though a certain juvenile part of me really wants to see this helluva mess you speak of, the truth is I would never do that to a beer :)

7. For future reference...
Just try running it under some hot water for a little bit. Enough to warm up the neck to melt the ice.

8. As much as I'd like to entice you into making a mess...
...it could cause a dangerous 'splosion. As somebody who works in a lab, we have to watch safety films occasionally, and according to these films, even a flask containing water and agar could blow the door off of a microwave.

I would advise against it, but if you decide to do it, please make a video and post it on youtube.

9. Nuke it on High for 10 seconds
Then let it sit for 20 seconds. Nuke it on 'med' for 23 seconds, but stop it at 21 seconds. Place the beer between 2 willing legs and burn 1.7 grams of sage...making sure the smoke moves towards the beer. Pop the top with a fresh aspen branch.

Enjoy!!!

10. If you toss it in the microwave...
...I think you've had quite enough already.
