After a year of banging heads with conservatives I'm quitting.

There's a local news website that I've been posting on for around a year. My aim was to hold the conservative, rabid right accountable for their posts and to make sure the liberal voice was heard.

Frankly, I'm tired of it. They're not gonna change. They ignore facts and rational thought. They only spew what they hear on Faux News and Limbaugh.

At the beginning, I thought there would be an exchange of thoughts, opinions and ideas with premise being that both sides really care about what happens to our country.

Well, I was wrong. The only thing they care about is their side winning. Even if the people they support are obviously wrong, they still support them. "Country be damned! We gotta beat them 'dummycrats' (as one likes to call us)."

Well, they can have full run of the site for all I care now. Besides what difference does it make what I say (or they say) on a website. It obviously isn't going to bring about change in our country.

It's just so damn infuriating. It's like arguing with a 4 year old.

I sure could use a shot of whiskey right now. I need to chill...

I think that it is important for you (and every liberal) to continue to speak, even (and especially) in the face of such idiocy. Why? Because there are other people looking in, who have not bought into the conservative lunacy. When they hear just the conservative point of view, they tend to buy into it, simply because it is "what everyone else is doing." You and I must be that voice of dissent. It is our obligation to our fellow man.
