Judi Dench is fucking amazing. Sorry I had to use the 'F' word to describe it because her performance was so amazing. And Cate. Cate is equally as brilliant.
I don't remember ever seeing a preview for it although I knew the basic plot...some may perceive Cate's actions as sleazy but I think it was a rather well-done movie.
I just watched "United States vs John Lennon" and "American Hardcore" (a documentary about the hardcore punk scene in the early 80's). they were offered up here on Directv pay per view at my sister's in NH where I am currently. I also watched "the Departed".
11. i liked the Departed the least of the three I mentioned.

those awful boston accents (except for mark wahlberg) drove me nuts. even though Matt Damon is from Cambridge his accent still sounded fake. Most people who usually like punk didn't like American Hardcore but I did. I had seen some of the bands discussed.the John Lennon movie was awesome. a great slice of anti war history. it told of how the government/FBI were watching Lennon because he was "dangerous". Nixon was president. they tried to deport him and Yoko. I liked this movie the best of the three.
But the role was not as challenging, I don't think. I can't remember now who the other nominees were, but I think I had seen all or most of the nominated performances. I just thought all of the acting in "Notes" was pretty high-intensity. That camera was right up in their faces. Wow.
