Many Women Hoping To Skip The Goat For The Monkey
<snip>

BEIJING (Reuters) - Many expectant Chinese women are trying to delay the birth of their children until the Year of the Monkey begins next week because they think it will bring them luck, state media said.

"They superstitiously believe that people born in the current Year of the Goat are deemed unfortunate," the China Daily newspaper said.

"Whatever the truth, one thing is for sure -- Year of the Monkey babies face a competitive education and career environment because they will have many more of them around," it said, quoting the Shanghai Morning Post.

2. Yes, I Heard that the Year of the Monkey was Bad News
Because monkey are pranksters, you tend to have weird accidents like the gasoline truck driving off the I-95 overpass in Baltimore. Or so a superstitious Chinese person would believe.

3. I'm a goat baby
I didn't know it was unlucky to be born in a year of the goat cuz every Chinese restaurant place mat I've read on the subject has neglected to mention it.

6. I'm a Rabbit
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky.
Hmmmph. It got my weight wrong, too... :shrug: http://www.c-c-c.org/chineseculture/zodiac/zodiac.html

7. My daughter's a monkey
And she does have it all- brainy, outgoing, a nice person, athletic, and cute. She's turning 12 next month.
I, however, am a Rat. Sigh...destined to be shunned and looking for scraps apparently. (Don't mind me, I'm having a pity party today.)
