My "Little Sparrow" was put to Sleep today at 4:21 p.m. and she was Beloved.

Just put "Yum Yum" the sister of "Koko" to "SLEEP."

It was a hard call...and we tried to revive her many times....but it was HER PROUD TIME TO GO! We had a great vet who was sympathetic. We did everything we could to keep her going...but the depression of "feeling bad" (and with Cats that's a big factor) just overwhelmed her in the end.

I did a "brushie" on her poor failing body...(a natural bristle brush that doesn't scrape) and talked to her about how she was "tired....and needed to rest...and she was a beautiful kitty...and how we loved her..and that she needed to "rest." I said....."rest Miss Yum..REST!"

She was a Siamese and she looked into my eyes and SHE KNEW the commune of feeling that those who love and commune with their pets for years know from their "providers and enablers."

We bundled her up and took her off to our vet (the one she knew her whole life) and we allowed them to "put her to sleep."

She was a great Gal...very vain about her appearance. The smartest of my three Siamese through the years for understanding the (((vibes)))) in the KoKo Household.

She traveled up and down the East Coast (because we drive with our two Siamese) and she'd been to Funerals and Family Reunions from New York State to Miami Beach Florida...to Tampa/St. Pete and back up to North Carolina.

She was a great gal! Kept her coat shining and always ENJOYED looking her best. When she felt she wasn't "looking her best" we finally knew it was time for her to "Pass On." The indignity of failing bladder and eyesight and her staggering to her water bowl was an INDIGNITY she didn't need to bear.

She was BEAUTIFUL...SMART and a GREAT FRIEND....ALL THESE YEARS! I mourn her going...but feel that our decision to put her to sleep saved her indignities and suffering.

Rest in Peace ...you beautiful babe!

BTW...her brother Koko is so distressed we haven't seen him. He knew ...and is grieving in his OWN WAY. And her brother is the DU NAME I TOOK as KoKo01 on Democratic Underground when I joined in 2001...as a NEWBIE. I might have chosen a different name...but I was new to the internet.

Anyone ever read Lillian Jackson Braun's Mysteries? The Detectives are TWO SIAMESE...Koko and Yum Yum.

I named my cats after detectives and I found them at the END OF THE CLINTON Administration..and they have lived with me for 13 years and YUM YUM...just went to sleep....

She was a person I would have liked to know "in real life." I will miss her for the rest of my life.

But...she died with last vestigas of DIGNITY...just like I would want to. I would want to.

Here's what Dolly Parton did with "Little Sparrow" .....and it's GOOD!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VKeTIM76co

BTW...SHE WAS..."My Little Sparrow" because she loved to chase after every "feathered toy" I could find for her. She could have been a Circus Cat because she could "do Flips" and "chase" after ANY CAT TOY...and SHE WAS GREAT AT IT! She could leap FIVE FEET IN THE AIR after a CAT TOY...she could have GONE ON TOUR! I've never known a CAT LIKE HER...EVER!

She was GOOD at what she did...should have been on BROADWAY!

Sounds like you were an awesome human for her to live with. You shared great times and helped her out of life with grace and kindness.

but what a terrific tribute you wrote!

And I love Lillian Jackson Braun's books. Koko and Yum Yum are awesome.

It's been over a year since my Watson died, and I still miss him terribly. :-(

8. Many Thanks...I know the Parton Video would seem odd...but Yum was neutered
and she WAS...a "little sparrow." I think she would have loved that song by Dolly...or maybe her "caregiver" just identified with it...but saw it as my precious "little yum" in the way she would have been...if she was "human." And, as many of you know...our pets are really "amongst us" and those who commune with them..speak with them, know their language...KNOW ...HOW WE SPEACK and COMMUNE.
