Came across Rossini's overture to 'The Barber of Seville' on the radio this morning...

...and found myself singing along using the lyrics from 'Rabbit of Seville' - possibly the funniest WB cartoon ever made ('What's Opera Doc' being a close second in my book).

:rofl:

Two things:
#1: Hilarious - I had a great time. :D:thumbsup:
#2: I did not know that I KNEW all the words from 'Rabbit of Seville' :bounce:

That Tex Avery cartoon with the dog tenor and the magic wand. That is definitely in the top 5 of my all-time favorite cartoon shorts.

2. Great music and great toon.
I really like the fact that WB didnt try to water down the music for their toons like this. You get to hear the actual overture as performed by a real orchestra.

The Atlanta Symphony back in the mid-90's did a performance of this and a couple other toons live, with the cartoon projected on a big screen above the orchestra. Awesome stuff.

3. Carl Stalling was a HUGE part of those cartoons' success
They would not have been NEARLY as funny without the music and live orchestra.

6. You are one up on me - I had to look up the lyrics:

How about a nice close shave? (Spoons in 2 scoops of cream into a glass)
Teach your whiskers to behave;
Lots of lather, lots of soap, (Puts glass under a beater until it foams)
Please hold still don't be a dope;
Now we're ready for the scraping, (Applies the whole thing onto Elmer's face)
There's no use to try escaping;
Yell and scream and rant and rave,
It's no use, you need sha-a-ve...

Good one, but my personal fave is Hillbilly Hare. :hi: Richardo!

7. "Yes, you're next...You're so next."

Welcome to my shop
Let me cut your mop
Let me shave your crop!
Daintily! Daint-til-ly!

Hey yoooou!

Don't look so perplexed
Why must you be vexed?
Can't you see you're next?
Yes, you're next!
Yoou're so next!
