Mom Teed Off by Urinating Drunk Golfers

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - A mother teed off by drunken golfers urinating near her house by the 18th hole resorted to videotaping the men after no action was taken on her complaints. Video of some men relieving themselves behind trees at the city-owned course was played on local and national television news.

Schubert has reported the problem to police, city officials, the local district attorney and the golf course manager. They suggested she record the offenders, and in a year she says she has captured more than 40 golfers in the act.

Signs banning public urination are posted on the golf course, and the city is talking to the course operator about the issue, said Josh Collins, director of the city's recreation and parks department. There are restrooms nearby at the 16th hole and the clubhouse.

Schubert says the underlying problem is too much beer and no restraint.

if you can't make it from 16 to the club house before you have to go. I get a picture of Schubert counting beer cans while she takes naughty pictures. Schubert say the problem is too much beer on the course and lack of restraint. See last sentence of the OP. I play golf and have no innate urge to pee on trees. It could be there is another problem - like players are taking too much time. A proactive step might be to volunteer to be a course ranger and move players along. They might even let her pick up the empty beer cans. I think they are wort 50 cents a pound now. And I don't mind breast feeding - as long as the group moves along or lets me play thru.

She cites too much drinking on the course. Carry Nation came to mind. I don't condone going after men or women with a hatchet. I never said pissing near her home was a bad thing. I just suggested a different tactic. Perhaps the easiest for everyone concerned is a porta-potty at that point on the course.

I agree that going after the drinking isn't the right tactic. Maybe a porta potty as a temporary solution, with a more formal Restroom planned for the end of the course. Not a bad idea anyway.

On the other hand, I would hate to have a lot of drunk guys in the neighborhood trying to drive home too. Maybe it is a problem that needs to be addressed. Like any club holds a certain amount of responsibility for its patrons' drinking, so should this golf course.

My kids were helping my neighbor in her yard last weekend when a man stood facing her house in between two trees, unzipped his fly and let loose. If one has to go, one could at least be respectful of those around them by finding a spot a bit more secluded.

15. The 7th hole of one of the Baltimore city courses has this tree..

and it always reaked of urine. Apparently everyone always had to go the bathroom by the time they got to the 7th so everyone pretty much went to the left side of the tee box to pee.

At the end of that hole there is a liquor store tantilizingly close to the course but there is a clear sign on all carts on that particular course NO TAKING THIS CART OFF THE COURSE. Golf in the 'hood.

It is rude behavior to take a leak a few strides from someone's patio, in full view of anyone who happens to be there. I don't know if that is exactly her situation, but a course I play has exactly that ongoing issue.

The people who unfortunately moved into the condos facing the popular piss-stop trees have an ugly parade of pissers all day long.


However, facts are facts and with all the beer swilled by many golfers, delivered to them enroute by the "drink cart girl" it is a problem the course should deal with. The course I refer to has one sani-john on the 14th hole. How they picked that spot - and that spot alone - I don't know. Maybe because it is not in view of any houses. Perhaps the residents didn't want the "eyesore" of a sanijohn? If that's it, then they reap what they sow.

Another higher-priced course I've played has about four permanent structures - running water, the whole bit, placed enroute. A couple of them are accessible from both front and back nine. Several others have facilities at least a couple of places.

This is a relatively small cost in the overall cost of building and maintaining a golf course, and should be mandatory, in my opinion.

THEN it would be feasible to enforce the "no public pissing" rules.

I readily admit that, although I don't drink beer, I have more than once found an urgent need to go into the woods to search for a fictitious lost ball...
