Question for mothers' of two or more.
Miz t. (and conventional wisdom, I guess?) says that the second child usually comes earlier than the first.

What was your experience?

1. Earlier as in time of day, or earlier as in term?
In my case it was both.

My son was two weeks late and born at 12:10 PM

My daughter was 1 week and a half early and born at 10:50 AM

2. I'm only a mom of 1
but, the way I always heard it was that the second one always delivered faster than the first.

4. That is where I differ from most moms
My labor was longer with my second than with my first. I was in labor for around 6 hours with my son and around 17 with my daughter.

5. augh, I was 24 w/ my daughter, ended in c-sect
at least now, if we have anymore, it will be scheduled and I won't have to deal with labor again. :hi:

7. My dear trof!
That was true for me......both in terms of due dates and lengths of labor!

My first daughter was two weeks past her due date, and she took 24 hours to emerge!

My second daughter was just 3 days past her due date, and she took 9 hours to emerge!

*Whew*

Glad those days are over....... :bounce: :bounce:

8. Thanks, moms. Trying to schedule our visit.
Our daughter is having her second child (little girl) the end of May. We want to be there before she goes to the hospital so we can ride herd on our 5 year old grandson and then generally help out with our new granddaughter.

Due date is May 26. She's on bed rest for the week due to dehydration and some mild abdominal contractions.
Yeah, I said "DRINK WATER!".

We offered to come now, but she says everything's under control so far, so hold off a bit longer.

It's a 2 day drive.

9. As a mother of four let me assure you that they come when they
are good and ready. I have never heard of this theory myself and it didn't hold true for me or many other mothers of two or more that I have known.

11. I have NEVER understood how they come up with a specific date.
Just doesn't seem to me that you can nail it down that specifically.

14. Easy. It's based on the first day of your last period.
It's not a perfect science, obviously (and ultrasound technology can make dating a pregnancy easier), but it's important to know approximately when the baby was conceived in order to monitor appropriate fetal growth.

15. First one was 13 days late, second one was one day late.
So yes, Miz t's theory is 100% correct! :hi:

16. The second almost always comes out faster.
My grandmother said it was like getting pickles out of a jar. The first one is really difficult & then the rest just pop right out.
