VA Tech student, home after shootings, killed in car crash

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) --A Virginia Tech freshman who returned home with his family after last week's campus massacre was killed in a car crash, his father said Sunday.

Jeff Soriano died from his injuries Friday in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after he was pulled from the wreckage of his burning vehicle, police said.

Soriano's vehicle flipped several times and struck a tree before coming to a rest, investigators said. The cause of the crash was not known.

Enrique Soriano, speaking by telephone from his home in Chesapeake, Va., said he picked up his son in the days after the April 16 slaughter on the Blacksburg campus, which left 33 dead, including gunman Seung-Hui Cho.

A 17 yo girl from our neighboring HS was set to get on Flight 175 on September 11, but missed the flight by minutes because of a flat tire. She and two other classmates were killed in a one-car accident the next spring. She was the driver.
