Can you be friends with people with a different sense of humor?

Everybody laughs at jokes, but some people don't find sarcasm amusing. I have a friend like that. Sarcasm, irony and general smartass comments don't register with her. She's a wondeful person and I love her, but I'm always so glad to get home so I can be a smartass again. I had the same experience when I was in England about a century ago. Does anybody know what I mean?

I've wondered about this for such a long time. I don't know if other people feel this way, too, or if I'm just a bad friend.

2. I get along better with smartasses myself but I can

be friends with people who don't share my sense of humor. But yes, with the people who have my humor I do feel more comfortable socially and I know I couldn't marry anybody without it. Thats one of my big things I find attractive in men.

Most people find it rather alarming because I just don't look like the type. I've really shocked people on more than one occasion, but my friends seem to appreciate it. Or they have just become accustomed to it.
