Board Games: Name you favorites.
Also, is there any particular game piece you must use when playing?

For example, when playing Clue, I must be Professor Plum. When playing Trivial Pursuit, I need the green pie.

Also, were you that annoying kid who yelled "I Win!" at the end of the game, like on the commercials?

Have you ever witnessed anyone smacking their forehead in disbelief like the guy on the old Yahtzee box?

27. Me neither...
It might be kind of fun to get all the (never-lose/nobody-will-play-with-me) at TP people on DU together and play a game in the Lounge.

OTOH, that might be a mess and we'd have the allegations of google/wikipedia cheating to contend with.

My mother and I have been playing together for years.

Mom and I also love Parcheesi. She still has her set from childhood (circa 1947), and I have on just like it that I bought on eBay. We've been holding on and off "tournaments" for more than 30 years.

It's a documentary on the participants in the national Scrabble tournament. For lack of a better term, it's the biggest assortment of losers ever assembled for a documentary film. I say this, and I love Scrabble. They made the New York Times Crossword people look like socialites.

Cool guys who are adults and realize that friendship has to be left at the door. Anyone can be screwed by anyone, and when the game is over and you're holding a grudge, you're the biggest asshole in the room. Those are the rules and we all abide by them without incident.

50. Scrabble, Cranium, Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, ... heck, I love games
back in college, some friends and I decided to play this game we had drunkenly made up which consisted of a chess board, chutes and ladders, and scrabble - you'd make a move in each and the game ended when one team won Chutes and Ladders, with Chess points used for scoring. After 3 hours we tied at 351 points each.

Cranium is a blast.

Anyone ever play Compatibility? It's a lot of fun - everyone has a deck of cards with pictures, words, or colors on them, a concept is randomly chosen by die roll, and you have to match your partner's choices for the 5 cards they think will represent that concept. For instance, if the concept is "love" you might pick the red card, a picture of flowers, a picture of a couple making out, a picture of children or whatever. You get points for cards in common with your teammate and if they're in the same position you get bonus points.

56. Scrabble, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, SceneIt, Boggle
Scrabble is something of a passion--I could play everyday and I'm ridiculously good at it, thanks to my massive vocabulary and mental anagram engine.

When playing Monopoly, I *MUST* be the cowboy on the horse. I will shrivel up and die like the Wicked Witch of the West if I am denied my special piece.

I collect Trivial Pursuit games like other people collect trading cards. We have an amazing number of variations and themes. Ditto for SceneIt--although I prefer the Music SceneIt, because I know a lot more about music than I do about movies.
