My cousin - whom I love dearly, but wanted to slap the living shit out of when he enlisted for the Marines last summer - just went to Iraq in late January.

Now he's already been blown up - broken legs, back injury, some other shit, from a roadside bomb. And to top it all off, as though this bright 18 year old getting fucked up for the rest of his life wasn't enough, he's going to Walter Read. Oh, joy and whoopie. I guess I get to look forward to the next 40 years of family reunions dealing with a psychotic, fucked up, PTSD-ed, probably crippled cousin with negligent health care and no hope for a future. I pray to God they can fix him up to normal physically - I have no idea how severe the injuries are at this point, or what the prognosis is.

My cousin's husband is getting shipped over, he'll be in medical operations tho, since he's a doctor. I shudder to think what he'll have to see day in and day out, he's a very pacifistic guy, joined up a long time ago to pay for med school, I don't think he ever thought this shit party would happen. He hates to see people hurt for no reason, I think this will affect hiom in the worst of ways, he lost his dad to Vietnam. And he still has 4 years left to fulfill his obligations.
