9. I almost picked some up
I was already in the checkout line with the limoncello and a bottle of Jimi Hendrix vodka (yes!), and the guy in front of me was buying 2 bottles of tequila. Too late! :P

16. It's...Jimi Hendrix vodka

The bottle looked so cool, I had to get it (the purple one in the middle, the unflavored version). Plus it's reputed to be ultrapremium, and elegantly smooth.

It wasn't cheap, that's fer shure, so my expectations are high. I'll find out this weekend and report back. :patriot:

6. I remembered it when I was at the booze store
and picked some up. I did add a dash of sugar to it, but the stuff *is* 62 proof.

It's way too yellow for my tastes.

I bet it's sour too, which would be a good thing 'cause I like sour....

10. Caravella Limoncello
Extremely high octane, very sour, very sour, and a bit sour.

Makes your gills tingle.

13. Oh yeah.
The alcohol level makes it taste a bit, er, antiseptic, but it also works pretty fast, even on a full stomach. :D

15. I have a recipe for Limoncello
somewhere around here. It seemed pretty easy to do. I'll see if I can find it.

I collected recipes one year b/c I considered give away home-made brandies for the holidays.

17. I saw a couple - including one for
a limoncello Bellini. :wow: It's apparently the rage in mixers. Since I don't go clubbing anymore, I have to rely on Mr Clooney to find out what's trendy.

20. Chemical composition as follows:
Edited on Thu Apr-12-07 09:15 PM by kedrys
3oz peach nectar
3oz champagne
Dash of limoncello

As someone who's not afraid of "girly drinks" - possibly because they can always be goosed to indecent octane levels  - I kinda wish I had some peach nectar in da house.

21. Limoncello recipe
I saved this as a text file some time ago and forgot to record the source, but I would have been looking for real stuff.

1 Liter Everclear
10 medium to large lemons
1 1/2 Liters water
3 Pounds of sugar

Wash the lemons with a vegetable brush and hot water to remove any residue, including pesticides or was; pat the lemons dry. Using potato peeler, take all the lemon rind off the lemons so there is no white pith on the peel. Place the rind-peelings in a large container with the Everclear. Cover the container and let it sit for seven days

On the eighth day, strain the peels from the alcohol; discard the peels.

I a large saucepan, make a simple syrup by combining the water and sugar; let simmer "fast" for 15 minutes. Let simple syrup cool to room temperature. Add to alcohol

You are now finished and can drink it right away.

NOTE: This same recipe works for arancello also. Use 10 large oranges.
