Metatarsal Stress fracture DAMMIT!
I was really cruising on my runs recently. I did 5 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend and felt great.

I have had a weird pain on the top of my right foot for a while now and between reading on internet running sites and our trainer here at work (yes we have a trainer) it is clearly a metatarsal stress fracture and the only treatment is rest.

Oh I can do a stationary bike but nothing beats the experience of 5 AM alone in the world just you and that next hill. I am going to be stewing for the next two weeks or so-the earliest I can consider getting back out there. Well at least I should be able to look forward to wearing shorts and avoiding that first bolt of cold in the morning.

I hate the damed stationary bike. :grr:

2. This will sound really vain
but my next short target date was a golf tourney with some old friends who haven't seen me since Christmas. I have dropped 40 pounds (or there abouts) since then so I was looking forward to their comments.

Oh well I guess I really have to watch my diet and I think I will add another set of 150 situps. I might was well get something out of this.

DAMMIT!

3. wow -- that's AWESOME -- try not to let this
set you back too much.

you just have to get used to the fact that it will set you back some -- and work through it.

working out brings you face to face with the most basic challenges -- it can be very frustrating.

5. The river is cold this time of year
Yeah I can but I don't have membership to a gym or any access to a pool.

I did that once and man it was a great workout.

I think I am going to stick with the bike-one of those fancy ones. Supposed to be a good workout.

I've had a couple of those.

Keep the foot elevated. Lots of milk.

First time it healed in two weeks. The second time a bit longer.

Try to find an orthopedic boot.

Do you use inserts?
