Bad nicknames....
"'Now, 'Dude,' that's a name no one would self-apply where I come from."

I was reminded of this quote when I had lunch with a friend today. We started catching up about people from our old crew, one of whom was and is referred to as "Cooch." I don't know if this is short for something or what, but this definitely falls into the category of less desirable nicknames, as far as I'm concerned.

So, you got some bad nicknames to share?

1. I had a friend whose childhood nickname, "Pootsie," stuck with him through adulthood.
It was his grandparents' infantile diminutive for him, and it suited him, actually. But once right after college we had a job at the same pizza place and someone referred to him by his real name and I had to ask "who?" That's just too long for a man to go by a name like that. I think he finally shed it when he got to law school.

Hey, you're in Nashville. Have you been to Cooter's Dukes of Hazzard museum? It's across the street from the Gaylord.

16. Well, I'm not.
Therefore, I beleive "Doof" is a perfectly acceptable nickname for a volunteer firefighter.
