The fact that your memory card is apparently still intact leads me to believe that they are, but you never know.

Why did it sink?

7. baby bunny drama
I keep going outside to make sure this sickly looking neighborhood cat doesn't come back and try to get the bunnies out of the nest in my garden. I saved one yesterday twice after my granddaughter thought it was a dead mouse. Poor thing was playing dead in her play yard. Once I picked it up, I realized it was fine..just a little wet from being in a cat's mouth. The cat stuck around and actually growled at us last night. Now I wonder what's wrong with that cat..it has absolutely no fur on its body at all only on the head, tail and legs. I've never seen anything like that.

I've build a defensive perimeter out of old pizza boxes, but it is no match for the empty toner cartridges they are launching over the cube walls. I'm afraid my time is short, and unless reinforcements arrive soon with more pizza, I'm done for.

Just got done with a hearing with the unemployment office (judge and all) and my former supervisors--ick ick ICK!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily their attorney was an ass. I may have a shot at unemployment bennies. But all I want is vindication for being victimized by these morons for the past year.

113. Thanks so much, VR!
I appreciate that!

My last job was, hands down, the absolute worst-managed situation I've EVER been in (and I've been in some doozies). So I was more than ready to give them a hosing--something I've never done before--it was THAT bad.

I was completely drained after the hearing--couldn't help but go over it and over it in my head for the rest of the day. DH is pessimistic about it (but he is by nature!) but my other friends think I may have made some headway.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as this forces them to stop and think before kicking around the next employee who becomes persona non grata, it was worth it, no matter what my personal outcome.

:hi:

I like the Ferrari, it's red and will match the ensemble I've chose to wear. But it doesn't have matching Louis Vuitton luggage.

The Aston-Martin is silver and doesn't really go with any of my beach wear. But it does have the matching Louis Vuitton luggage.

What to do? :(

87. Be sure not to let your dog drink too much water when she gets home
When my family's dog came home after being spayed she was super thirsty and drank a lot of water too fast. Her stomach flipped and was twisted at esophagus and small intestine. Since it was closed off it filled with gas and she began to look pregnant. We took her back to the vet where they had to do surgery again. Gastric torsion can happen if dogs eat too fast and gulp a lot of air, too.

Oh, I know! I have a few stalkers on my Sims 2 page who come and rate anything I upload one star within a few hours of it being uploaded. My latest legacy chapter, which took far longer than anything else I've ever uploaded to crawl up to five stars, got knocked back down to four by one of the not-nice people the other day.

I'm rather up front about my political beliefs in my blog, and I think that's the reason.

75. This is the time of year when everyone waits for the other shoe to drop
at school. Who will be transferred? Will they close an elementary school? Who is retiring, and who will get their jobs? What kind of sucky schedule will I get? Plus we have contract negotiations going on and they are very hush-hush so far.

Other than that, I am coping with allergies (bleah) and trying to get everything done as the school year winds down.

Edited on Tue Apr-10-07 11:17 PM by QMPMom
In reading the guest book online with the obituary, I learned that his friend was gay. None of the old University Gang knew. No one. DH is in shock as are the rest of the Gang. He's a very liberal and open-minded man. He's just had no clue.

Oh, and a friend of mine at work got fired today.

84. None. The most recent....
demonstrated the utter naivety of a guy friend of mine and his willingness to believe ANYTHING if it meant that he could get back together with the woman who shat all over him. I wasn't really involved in it, but one of the pair tried to pull me into it. I just ignored them.

A former gal friend manipulated this former guy friend into believing that I had said nasty things about him...things that she had actually said. I was scapegoated into being the bad guy after their relationship shattered last year. Instead of coming to me and asking if I had said the things he was told, he took the bait hook, line, sinker, and re-entered the relationship with the person who has betrayed him more times than he could ever know.

Even though there is tons of evidence (emails, YM conversations, and such) that I could show him to prove that the miserable psychopathic, manipulative bitch lied about me, and that it was actually her words that she attributed to me, I'm staying out of it. He'll find out soon enough--karma's funny that way. And since he sacrificed our friendship to renew his relationship with the manipulator, I'll laugh when his world crashes yet again. I never thought I'd say this about him, but deserves the misery that eventually he will reap.

141. Stuff for you.
Hello FS. I see bubbles and bits of black mostly in front of you, some inside you, some to the sides and behind you, at the chest level. I've seen this before in other breast cancer people. I have several thoughts. Feel free to ignore them all. I'd start going through the aspects of Maslow's hierarchy of actualization to assess how you're doing in each area. I think this is very important since it's all about ounce of prevention, as I see it. As we secure ourselves in each area, we can more securely support our upper levels of self development. A wikipedia search will give you more info if you don't have that on hand.

On an esoteric level, I suggest surrounding yourself with a comfortably large sphere of light, whatever color you get. Note: you may see stuff going on in it, coming through and out of it. If you do, mazel tov. It's a living thing so it reflects your living condition. I'd stay with that image from time to time during the day even if it's in small amounts of time whether or not you do longer sessions. Frequency trumps duration here. Also, resonating yourself and the image with the heart sound of ah will be helpful.

All the best to you.

111. Dare I even open this can of worms??
Ok. One rant.

My husband's best friend has been living with us since 11/14/05. He had run into some troubles and needed a place to land. We told him to come to our place. It's small, but he was planning on moving out within a few months. Well, a few months went by and he didn't even have a job. Then he got a job, worked for a few months, and quit. Then he languished for another month and got another job. That was in June of last year. He was quickly promoted to Management Training, and they are now supposedly finding him his own store.

The problem is that all he does is work, eat, and sleep in our living room floor. We have a one bedroom apartment. It's more than cramped in here. MrVR and I stay in our little bedroom most of the time because he is sleeping in the other room. He doesn't help with housework or bills.

We told him in the middle of February that he has to move out. He hasn't even looked for a place as far as we can tell. All he still does is eat, sleep, and work. Nothing else. It's draining on me and MrVR, and it's starting to make life around the house unpleasant.

So, anyone need a roommate?? (kidding. I wouldn't do that to anyone )

112. Oh, you don't really want to know...
but of course I will tell you anyway.

1) My best friend broke up finally from her mega-abusive boyfriend and then got a restraining order; which violated his probation (!! I know, I know..); so he retaliated by having her thrown in jail for 24 hours for a bogus assault charge. Poor girl freaked the hell out; orange jumpsuit and all.
Paging Jerry Springer, please.

2) My loving soulmate is an alcoholic. Another episode ensued night before last. It was not pretty. It could have been dangerous. I have run the emotional gamut; and am exhausted.

Other than that; wonderfully calm!
SIGH.

121. Sleep deprivation, postop special-needs kid, hospital memories...
On Friday, I scrubbed into my 8 y.o. son's OR at Duke Children's, so I could carry him in there, set him on the operating table, and hug/hold him as they put him under for his pharyngeal flap surgery. That was hard.

All his previous surgeries have been to save his life, not to improve his quality of life, but this one was "merely" to give him the ability to speak more or less normally--important, but not as emotionally clear-cut as heart surgery or a Ladd procedure, so it was tough. I managed not to cry, and I'm glad he went under with me holding him rather than a stranger.

I then left the OR, removed the bunny suit, and spent the next 4 hours or so on pins and needles in the surgery waiting area on the 3rd floor.

He came through the surgery great, recovery went way better than I expected, and we came home Sunday night. But then we entered round 2 of the drama, as the swelling and soreness in his throat absolutely killed his appetite for his nutritional formula once the pain meds wore off, and he already hadn't had much calories to speak of since Thursday night. We tried feeding him from an open cup (didn't work, due to his oral motor issues), so we spent most of yesterday feeding him via an oral syringe (this worked when he was an infant, but do you know how long it takes to syringe 8 ounces of formula 10 cc's at a time?), and I finally realized it came down to giving him a soft-straw cup earlier than the doctor said we could, or putting him in the car and taking him straight back to Duke for an NG tube (if they could maneuver one around the flap and surgical site, not something I wanted to think about) or God forbid, a G-tube. So I cut the valves out of his familiar straw cup with a pocketknife and a pair of scissors, filled it with half-strength formula, and (THANK GOD) he started drinking again.

So, I was up till 1:30am this morning, feeding him full-strength formula and keeping him upright so he didn't throw up those hard-won calories, with Toy Story 2 as a distraction. But he's turned the corner, I think--and his spirits were much improved last night after getting some calories in him.

So, right at this moment, I'm sitting here at work a little sleep deprived, but upbeat. My wife just called and said he's taken a can and a half of formula this morning, plus some water and a juice box, and he's up and walking around again. Deep relief, gratitude, and love. Life goes on...

I made arrangements over a month ago to stay with my mother overnight this coming Friday night so I could see her while I was in that area. (She lives about 20 miles from the cousin.) Mom calls me last night to bitch and complain about my dogs coming along with me and my husband. :wtf: OK, Mom, if it had been a problem when I asked you a MONTH ago, you should have told me. :grr: I told her then that it was just fine to say no to the dogs and we'd make other arrangements, like a kennel or a pet sitter. It's too late now to book a kennel or a pet sitter. My husband will have to go by himself to the rehearsal dinner with his parents and I'll drive down separately Saturday morning. We'll return Saturday afternoon. Our neighbor will let our dogs out two or three times while we're gone, but I'm not leaving them in the house overnight by themselves. I don't get to see Mom after all, but at this point, it's probably best. :(

Work drama: The Family from Hell basically called me the Antichrist yesterday. We made a financial aid offer that was very generous and met their financial need. Of course, that "financial need" was the financial aid definition of need, not theirs. The father, who is a bizarre individual, sent me an email last week that told us how insulted they were (those were his words) at my "lack of passion" for finding them the aid they want. He demanded (yes, I'm not exaggerating) that we replace his daughter's student loans and work study with grants. We gave them what they qualified for all the way around, and much as I'd like to, we can't do that. I copied my tactful email to my boss, who oversees Admissions and Financial Aid and has a need to know about situations like this. The dad was convinced that we were "freely discussing" their private financial information with faculty members. The admissions counselor, who has had more than his share of fun dealing with them, withdrew the student's admissions application and refunded their deposit because they are just too much. The student even acknowledged in one of her emails that her family is high-maintenance, and that is the understatement of the year. :yoiks: I gave them the same attention and "passion" that I have given to all the students I've worked with over the years, and nobody violated anybody's privacy. Cases like this make me wonder WTF I was thinking when I decided to return to this side of my profession. :(

132. Mine's mostly the self-inflicted kind
right decisions, wrong reasons or vice-versa

I somehow managed to drive someone away who meant so much to me. Just proves I'm no good at relationships after being in a bad one for 18 years.

140. Wondering why I keep letting my sister stress me out.
For years I've been trying to make our relationship a good one, but all that ends up happening is that I end up completely stressed out.

147. My husband...just diagnosed with allergies and asthma and now he cracked a rib
coughing and he's in pain and holy shit...
And this on top of surviving flesh-eating bacteria a couple years ago, almost died, damn near brought him outta the hospital in a big expensive box, but he made it through that...
*sigh*
That and my own health worries and money worries and praying our precious SarahBellum stays safe as she learns to be a good driver in her 'new' car and my 85 year old mom wanting to marry her 90 year old boyfriend and holy shit.

But that's all.

150. My sweet little sheltie Maggie ( 11 pounds - sweetest little face...)
has developed this really annoying little habit. When she gets in bed with me at night, she recently has taken to "dropping one" in the bed with me some time in the middle of the night. Yep... a little turd 'dingle berry'. It's disgusting. Outright awful. I thought it was an anomaly, but after several 'drops' I think she is doing it on purpose. She is about to be exiled ....
