A question about prescriptions... (not medical advice, I already saw the doctor)
Anybody know how long they are good for? I got a prescription about a month ago and never got around to picking it up. Will the pharmacist still honor it? Is there a rule about how long you have to pick it up? It is just for a lotion, not any kind of pills. And the doctor called it in, I don't have a paper copy of it. I'm sure I could call my doctor and have them call it in again. But it is 3:30AM and I am curious right now.

Do they normally have laws regarding how long you have to get a prescription filled?

TIA.

1. My experience has been
they will hold the filled prescription for a week. If it's not picked up, it goes back into stock and you have to request for it to be filled again.

YMMV. :D

2. Can I make the request or does the doctor need to?
And I know this is anecdotal. I would like to have it filled tomorrow, I just want to know how early I need to wake up. I figure it will take some time to get my doctor to call it in again.

3. A prescription is usually good for 90 days
I think. After that, if you haven't used it yet, you have to have the doctor renew the prescription.

5. Typically a week where I go
If you try to get it later, I think they just refill it.
