Early (and O.G) Helmet just jackhammering away through "Unsung" at a small club in Jersey; dig the dude in the crowd who had a little too much liquid courage!

1. God, Helmet were king shit of fuck mountain back in the day.
When they went down the crapper (*cough* BETTY *cough cough*) it was fucking SAD.

You know that drummer's in Battles now, right?

2. no!
Steve Albini should have produced the entire Meantime album; he could have kept them from diving into the suckatude pool w/ Betty. What fucking great band; they just burned my ears off when I saw them at Stache's in Columbus in 1992. What a waste...

I'm checking oyt the Battles webby right now; I've never heard any of their stuff. What's your take on them?

11. Yes, and then I was in the sardine can that was Lightning Bolt.
I didn't think LB sounded all that great. Gibson's too in love with his reverb.

I like it better when there's a song to make out. Battles' new one is coming out in May.

6. I've gotta give some love to John Stanier here, too
His tightly controlled drumming here anchors the band like no one this side of Britt Walford. His snare just explodes on this..

7. Saw them in Athens Georgia in 1991.
One of the best shows I have ever seen. They sounded like a machine.

9. How many thousands of bands owe their careers to Helmet?
Too many to name here.

I think Strap it On is the better of the two albums though . . .

12. Strap It On sounds better
But I love Meantime's songs more, but that's just me. Too many bands owe their careers to Helmet, that's for sure..
