Meet Sammy Davis Jr. Jr., officious seeing eye bitch.
Edited on Mon Apr-09-07 07:50 PM by nytemare

In case you haven't seen the film "Everything is Illuminated", it is highly recommended. The dog is hilarious, and the film is about as heartwarming and bittersweet as a film can be.

:hi:

1. The book and the move are both distinct and wonderful...
despite being almost the same story.

Different things highlight themselves in both. The grandfather's back-story is much clearer in the movie, but Alex is funnier in print, and Jonathan Safran Foer is more human in print and the extreme and dysfunctional quirkiness of both Alex and Jonathan are more obvious on-screen.

2. The little kid that played young Jonathan was cute as a button.
With the big glasses!

I am thinking about getting the book, once I finish what I am reading now.

4. Fit the movie perfectly.
"Amelie" was another where the music really fit the film.

Two thumbs up for the book, one thumb down for second book. I will have to hit the bookstore.

7. oh i didn't give the second book a thumbs down!
I just enjoyed the first book so much plus love the movie and i guess i am comparing the second book to that unfairly! i was distracted with life a bit more when i read the second book and was annoyed by his abstract style more than the story line itself! i still recommend that you read it. i would be curious to hear another opinion on it! it's about a boy who lost his dad in the WTC on 9-11. :hi:

11. I really liked the second book.
Cried at the end like a baby. But it DID get murky at parts.

The "are you there, are you there...." still chokes me up
when I think about little Oskar.....

My two daughters, 11 and 15 both liked it as well, I think it
brought the 9/11 experience home for them, as they were pretty
young at the time....

9. one of my favorites this year and nobody has heard of it.

:hi:. looks like it's going to be an impossibility for me to see Inland Empire. it seems to have only played for short periods anywhere near me and I blinked and it was playing nowhere fast. I can't even find a good torrent online for it. I want to see that movie oh so badly. :(

"The DVD will be really cool," Lynch states. "It will have so much great stuff on there. I am going to load it up and make it exactly the way I want it."
