Poll question: Did you ever ride one of these?

The Rock-O-Plane: Eight pods on a wheel frame with the pods being able to rock and rotate (spin you head over heels) by the use of a brake operated by the rider. After entering the pod, the wire-mesh door was typically secured by a solitary popsicle stick. If you slipped the ride operator a tip, he would speed the ride up enough so that you could feel the G's.

I haven't seen one of these since the mid-70s. I imagine they've all been scrapped by now.

6. was that you in the cage above me?
It is the only ride I have ever been thrown up on while riding.
I nearly lost it too so one ride was enough.

12. The rock-o-plane claims another one.
I wouldn't want to risk it all these years later. I hate to hurl.

I've only been on it once in my life and that was enough.

But I can see where it's not for everyone. The three way motion is quite intense.

36. I was on that in 2006
Never again. My partner lost everything in his pockets and I was sick for the rest of the day. I will never go on rides again. I don't know if it's because I'm older or what, but I was so miserable after that ride.:puke:

38. Yeah you have to either have zipped pockets or leave your stuff with the operator.
Otherwise you'll lose everything. The Zipper is my favorite all time non-roller coaster ride. My buddy and I can get that car spinning nonstop the whole ride. Sorry you had a bad experience.

5. Only twice in my life has a ride mede me sick...

The other time was after riding this very tilt-a-whirl in Ocean City, after eating Thrasher's fries, well-coated with vinegar. The attendant thought he'd be nice, and give us an extra long ride.

24. The worst thing was
I couldn't just :puke: and get it over with. My stomach and head hurt miserably, my mouth tingled like I was going to lose my stomach any second; but I couldn't.

Mr GoG had to drive us home; and he wasn't feeling that great either...

We only barfed for the first few rides, then we settled down and got into some serious spinning.

25. The only "scary" ride I've ever been on
Well, except for a 100-year-old wooden rollercoaster, which is a whole different kind of scary.

But The Round-Up...my aunt and uncle, so naive, believed it just went around and around, didn't tilt--they convinced me and my cousin to go on it...luckily we were the only ones on it at the time because we MADE the operator stop it.

Why, yes, we WERE chickenshit 12-year-olds, in fact!

35. I'm fairly sure that this is the Skydiver

Like a ferris wheel only your car swings side to side instead of front to back. You have a "steering" wheel that is attached to the frame. You can use it to keep yourself more or less upright or you can use it to spin yourself sick.

He would describe the strength of all the parts and the odds of failure. It was terrifying. I refuse to ride things at the fair. But I will go on the rides at places like Six Flags.
