So, DUers, what did YOU do today?
I had the day off and started learning how to drive a stickshift. Then tonight I went to a Starbucks and hung out there for a couple of hours, drank 2 lattes and read a book. I got back home around 11:00, and went on the computer. What did you do? :hi:

Ate between Noon and 1.
DU until 7pm.
Dinner until 8:15pm.
DU until now.

Hopefully, the Iced Sexto (six shots!) Americano I had at 10am wears off soon...I have to be back at work at 1pm tomorrow and I'd like to sleep at some point between now and then.

20. It was 78 degrees today, though it's going to get cooler over the
weekend. :(

I'm a vocational rehab counselor. I deal with people injured on the job. I assess their ability to return to work, and if they can't go back to anything they already know how to do because of their injuries, I write retraining plans for them. I also get to work from home, which I totally love.

7. I've had my relatives in from Texas, staying with me...
They're supposed to leave Easter afternoon.

They're good people...I'm going to miss them when they're gone. It's been pretty much nonstop with them since they got here--which I love. We've been to Jackson and Hattiesburg shopping, and down to Middendorf's for catfish. We've played scrabble and looked at photos of our matriarch, who passed away two years ago. We've shot guns (how rednecky is that?), grilled burgers, and cooked other good food.

It's been a good visit so far. I can't wait to go to Port Arthur later this spring to spend a weekend with them.

After they leave on Sunday, I have a bunch of freshman papers to grade before Monday at noon.

So it's been a busy week...but it's been fun.

14. Worked 'til 12:30, came home and did some housekeeping,
had a glass of wine and hopped on DU; made supper, watched "A Prairie Home Companion" with Hubby and SarahBellum, had another glass of wine and a couple of hits, and hopped back on DU which is where I am now!

Oh! and went to the store to buy dish soap and toilet paper and stopped at the thrift store and bought "Shakespeare for Dummies" for $.50. *lol*

15. Got up and drove from Ft. Smith To Little Rock
a 2.75 hour drive, for a 3 hour meeting, with BBQ from hell, that has made my stomach feel bad ever since (hope no E Coli) been home, and feeling stuffed up and posting on DU!

and ate some tortilla soup!

had too much caffeine to help me stay awake this morning. Talked to a friend on the phone who helped me stay awake this morning and even e-mailed someone a couple of times from my cell phone, all in the name of staying awake!

Similar trip home, only more awake. On the phone discussing asshat people that make me a little crazy.

16. Last day of vacation.
Laid around for a while, then went outside and swapped out the dash in my VW truck for one without cracks. Also replaced the emergency brake handle for one that was not all jacked up. Did some cleaning on the inside. All of this because I will be selling it soon. Then I went inside and laid around a while. Had leftover chicken fried steak with cream gravy and mashed potatoes. Read DU, Daily Kos, TPM, Rawstory and HuffPost. Batted a fool around in GD. Posted in the Lounge for the first time in I don't know how long. Gonna go snuggle with the SO now.

25. worked on an exam prep handout for my students, then walked to campus with a hacksaw
I headed for the Facilities Management brush pile, where they've stacked some of the fallen tree limbs they cleared up after the big storm earlier this year. I sawed off a chunk of 5" oak log, about 18" long. (I am making a kindling-splitting set for a friend ... she has a fireplace and has been paying a lot this year for those chemical fire-lighters. She doesn't like using an axe, so I had a blacksmith friend make a big heavy knife, kind of like an old-fashioned "froe", and the idea is that she'll be able to split wood into tinder by tapping the back of the knife with a wooden mallet. That's what I'm going use that chunk of oak for.)

Oh, and I also came up with a recipe for dessert custard -- with cocoa powder and ground hazelnuts -- it's in the fridge and should have set by now.

28. Slept late, watched "The Wonder Pets!"
(I am ashamed of how much I love this little kids' show, it cracks me up), went to the doctor and ordered a hearing aid (old age and loud music takes its toll, alas), and went grocery shopping-got the last bag of licorice jelly beans for my husband's Easter basket. Not a bad day, but it is cold here.
