"Bob Roberts" on HD Net Movies
Prescience all around... when the mayor's wife rapturously tells Roberts "I wish there was a way I could vote for you 100 times!!"

He says, "There is!"

The look of hope, anticipation, and glazed fanaticism in her eyes was chilling.

When he said he was only kidding, you could see a glimpse of disappointment in her teary-eyed smile.

Any other fans of this movie? Notice a young and unknown Jack Black as the mayor's son who goes too far. :D

1. I love and hate that they never released a soundtrack
Tim Robbins was concerned that people wouldn't realize the songs are satirical. However, the Woody Guthrie song they use at the end of the movie sends chills up my spine and it's not available on anything he has in print.

3. I understand
I can see Robbins' point, seeing how things have come to pass since... but for those of us who get it, it would have been a treat.

4. That was Jack Black's first movie role and he was so cool in it
He played the son of the mayor from Harrisburg.

Here's some fun trivia facts about the movie:

The movie was based on a Pennsylvania Senate race in 1990. None of the Pennsylvania Senators have elections on the cycle that includes 1990. (Specter was 86/92, Santorum first ran in 94).

The mayor of Harrisburg is neither married nor a republican. Stephen Reed has been around as the Mayor since 1988 and he is a democrat.
