I stopped at the convenience store for coffee. There was a man in there with a little boy, maybe five years old. For the boy's breakfast, he bought a chicken & fries box, an ice cream sandwich, and a Cherry Coke.

:wtf:

1. My Dad would have done that
He was not allowed by my Mom to feed us very often. ;)

3. I don't know if "lighten up" is necessary
I just know that some people have their own ideas about what constitutes "breakfast".

Suddenly I'm reminded of Bill Cosby and the chocolate cake.

8. My sister in law does that with her daughter...
the kid is 12 years old and weighs over 250. The kid lives on a constant intake of crappy nasty fatty foods supplied by my sister-in-law. I say there is something majorly wrong with a 12 year old that wears a women's plus size 22.

9. I could see my dh doing that.
He takes the kids on a bike tour each year. 50+ miles a day on the bike (tandems) and camping at night. Usually they're in the middle of nowhere and small mom/pop stores are the only thing around. There isn't a wide selection of breakfast foods at convenience stores, and dh and his friend are limited to how much they can pack on their bikes.

During those trips, I'm sure someone sees dh and his friend feeding my kids and goes :wtf:

But I would kill him for giving the kids cokes. And they wouldn't touch fries with a 10 foot pole.

11. Eh, as long as it isn't his everyday breakfast, then no biggie.
My mom tended to be the better one around the house to feed us. My dad let me have what I wanted mostly and I turned out just fine! ;)

12. Boy's birthday and he got to pick whatever he wanted?
Hard to say if it's a regular diet. If it is then I'd agree it's abusive. If it's a rare treat than it's sort of funny. Heaven knows what my kids would pick if I gave them a morning they could have whatever they wanted. Probably a popsicle, a Hershey bar and a slice of pepperoni pizza.

15. My kids always had cake for breakfast the day after anyone's birthday
Might not be a regular thing - was the kid obese?

I'm really not into judging other people by brief instances. I've been judged like that and it's no fun to be standing in line at the grocery checkout paying with food stamps and having people look at your groceries knowing that they're assessing your food choices. And they do that. I've even had people make remarks.

No offense to you personally but people need to mind their own business a bit more.
