I mean, complete and utter worldwide unity.

Universal libertarianism? Socialism?

Peace?

What?

1. I don't have a clue as to what would replace it, but, rest assured,
there would be something new - or not so new - for everyone to get up in arms about. It's kind of like the "Disaster du Jour": What did we *ever* talk about before said disaster and won't it be so boring when we don't have it to talk about any more.

Did that make sense?

6. I don't know as you could have unity without some kind of politics
Even the most pastoral society has leadership positions and people who are responsible for various functions of society.

I think what we need is a return to the idea of politics as public service not some kind of power position that exists only to enrich the politician. I'm not holding my breath.

12. As a topic to argue about?
Religion. Hands down.

As a means of ensuring the democratic process, nothing would eliminate politics. But if you eliminate the democratic process, then politics pretty much goes out the window.

Dictatorship works until someone dies. Same with monarchy.
