Billy Joe Shaver shoots a guy outside a Texas bar
I've been around Billy Joe a couple times in a small club, and he's the sweetest guy in the world--so I tend to believe his self-defense claim...

Police have issued arrest warrants for country singer Billy Joe Shaver after he shot and wounded a man outside a Texas bar, the entertainer's attorney said.

After Shaver left a bar in Lorena on Saturday night, a drunk, aggressive stranger with a knife followed him into the parking lot, said attorney Joseph A. Turner of Austin. Shaver shot him in self-defense, he said.

Police in Lorena -- about 80 miles north of Austin -- issued arrest warrants late Monday on charges of aggravated assault and possessing a firearm in a prohibited place, Turner said.

Shaver attempted to surrender to Austin police Monday night but was not arrested because the police did not have a record of the warrants, said Turner, who accompanied Shaver.

5. Did he have the weapon on him when he left the bar?
Or was it retrieved from his vehicle?

6. Not familiar with Billie Joe, is he a gangster rapper?
He must be because violence only erupts at hip-hop shows right?

8. He's a sweetheart, and he's a fighter.
I'm not saying it wasn't self-defense, I'm just sayin' that a man is who he is.

He sure knows how to write a song, he does. Seeing him perform moves me to tears.

12. yeah, i saw him at a little club in Baton Rouge...best show I've ever seen...
and I have seen a lot.

When he gets down on his knees and prays in memory of Eddie, it is the closest thing I get to having a religious experience
