oh, and she taLks out Loud whenever she reads. that's awesome!!

thankfuLLy, she comes in no earLier than 2 hours Late everyday so i'm at Least spared that chunk of the day.

2. I hate noisy, period.
Yikes! She sounds like a total nightmare.

Have you tried talking to her about it?

Headphones? White noise machine?

Can you change cubicles??

Also - the throat clearing thing - (and the sighing) - it sounds like she has allergies with maybe some bronchial issues. . . She probably should see a doc about that.

4. no, i haven't taLked to her
everyone's different, and i know i'd be put off by someone teLLing me to breathe quieter or something.

and yes, i have headphones on now with the music bLaring... but i don't want to aLways have them on, ya dig?

as for the sighs (and the sLams) are just some sort of passive aggressive attention getter.

another coworker taLked to her about right away when i compLained to him that i'm ready to throttLe her..... her response: weLL one needs to express one's seLf. what ever the fuck that means.

10. Since she's invited you to express yourself, I'd go ahead with the
throttling. :hi:

5. my office-mate hums
at first I kinda liked it, but lately it has been getting on my nerves.

(I think I might enjoy it more if I could recognize what tune he's humming.)

8. She's holding her breath, a sign of stress.
That could be why she's sighing so much. I do it sometimes. It becomes habit, and it's hard to break.

The banging slamming noises are an effort to create evidence that she's "working." Does she screw around on the job much? Feel guilty about netsurfing? Spend too much time IMing? Suffer from freefloating anxiety? Feel like her officemate is evaluating her? :P

Drop a meditation cd and a set of daily affirmation cards on her desk. Slip her a xanax.

Don't know what to say about the reading-out-loud.... that's just juvenile.

11. hehe
no, she's actuaLLy an insane worker... and she judges everyone eLse by it. no one works harder than her.

right now, we're at a down time for our business (aLL the office workers are pretty much sitting on our thumbs) so we're aLL doing stuff that's not biLLabLe.

i myseLf just finished creating this nifty program for everyone's cadd software: it spits out a Legend based onLy on symboLs used in a drawing. out of every drawing someone does now, that's gonna shave off maybe an hour (give or take depending on the size of the job and amount of information).

she's currentLy doing something with our titLe bLocks.... and she's working so hard on them.

and the reading out Loud i assume, is because engLish is not her native Language.
either that, or she wants everyone to know she's reading harder than everyone.

16. With all the sighing and slamming, sounds like she's p.o.
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 10:47 AM by raccoon
Which of course is her problem, not yours. I can sympathize. I shared a cubicle once with a woman who was always very p.o. and negative. She needed anti-depressants big time.

Can you wear noise-cancelling headphones?

19. My new co-worker keeps his keys hitched to his belt loop.
Started in October. Nice enough guy. He jingles whenever he walks in and out of the office. I can hear him coming down the hall.
