2. I posted it a couple weeks ago, but a recap
my local paper in Wisconsin would do a fake story every year, some were better than others.

the best one - a story about how the Aurora Borealis would be visible in Wisconsin that night due to some special atmospheric conditions. It included all kinds of quotes from fake scientists, how this would be a "once in a lifetime event", etc. And it said the best place to see it would be the local parks on the shore of Lake Michigan, with the unobstructed views to the North and East.

the next day - front page pics of the hundreds of people gathered on the lake front to watch an aurora display that never appeared.

4. Something I had done a few years ago....
I come in to work very early. The prank was putting a tiny rubber ducky (a baby's toy so non-toxic, and carefully washed and rinsed) into the office water cooler. No one could figure out where it came from; several speculated that it was a prank pulled by the company that services our water cooler.
