Help, DUers -- Does anyone know about streaming video issues?
I signed up for a Pay Per View conference.
The conference is presented in a series of streamed video clips that are between 30 minutes and 1.25 hours in length.

But with this conference, I cannot:
1) pause the stream and then resume it, without it playing haltingly. (Both audio and video)
2) advance the stream by even a few minutes, without it playing haltingly.
3) or replay the stream, without that annoying halting.

They're offering 3 ways to play the conference: audio only, lower resolution audio/video, and high res. audio/video.

The only one I don't have problems with is the audio.

I tested my download speed. It's between 650 and 660 kbps.
My firewall doesn't seem to be a problem (I turned it off briefly to test that possibility)

I attended a similar conference presented by the same company last November, and had no problems at all.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Is there something I could do to clear it up?
Is it possible that the company presenting the conference oversold the event? (Excess traffic, etc.)

I'm stumped.

:(

1. I'm guessing the company is over-extended. Is that possible?
This time, they're offering both low res video clips AND High res video clips.

When I did their November conference, they only had low res clips.

Does it require more power, memory, bandwidth, (can you tell I don't know what to ask?), etc. in order to host twice the number of clips -- half of them much larger than the ones in the first conference?

Any and all suggestions and guesses are welcome and appreciated.

:)

4. I did post my question there too.
Maybe I didn't include enough information?

5. oops
sorry I didn't check first

Also it doesn't move as fast as the lounge or gd etc

I'm not very good at this stuff, but is everything clean on your computer? extraneous files dumped, cache and cookies, spyware and such?

As they always say try shutting it all down and restarting?

7. That's okay :)
Yes. I've even turned every other program off, to focus all of my computer's efforts to the video downloads.

My 'puter gets shut down every day, so I don't think that's the issue.

It's a mystery to me.

What type of internet connection are you using? Please give every little detail about your computer and the type of streaming video (real, quicktime, WMV) . I would love to help, but I can't with, "my computer is broken."

edit :: fixed typo
