OMG! An American League pitcher just batted — and got a single!
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 01:47 PM by Oeditpus Rex
It was Steve Trachsel, who's spent most of his career in the National League, and hit .250 or better three times.

So, to you DH proponents, I say .

Update: He just scored on a two-run double by Tejada.

1. I hate the DH.
Not too fond of Trachsel after his meltdown against the Cards either.

11. I hear ya!
As far as I'm concerned let Trachsel slow down the game to a virtual standstill in the AL...they can keep him!

2. Kenny Rogers is a pretty good hitter as well. Leyland just doesn't want
them pushing it during regular games.

9. Krook does radio and teevee for Giants games now
He's part of the best broadcast team in baseball. I'm a lifelong Dodgers fan, but I love listening to those guys — Krukow, Duane Kuiper (Krook and Kipe), Jon Miller and David B. Flemming.

4. Our Dan Haren swings a mean bat, too.
And even defies orders from his coach not to swing. I think he's singled a couple of times off the Giants during interleague play.

5. If you'll forgive my French, the DH fucking sucks.
I mean really, really fucking sucks.

The 1980s Phillies staff could hit - Carlton in particular.

6. ARE there any DH proponents here?
Despite the fact that most of my time spent in college softball was as DH, I loathe it.

8. Good point. BTW, did you know
that Jim Abbott, one-handed pitcher for the Angels, Yankees, White Sox and Brewers, had 21 plate appearances and got two hits?

:woohoo:

I once saw him pitch - I was right behind home plate. He was good. I wouldn't say amazing; he did what came naturally. But he was a pretty good pitcher. Threw a no-hitter, too.

12. I actually watched his no hitter game on TV
It was amazing how he was able to pitch the ball and get his glove on his hand so he'd be ready defensively so quickly. I usually don't like watching Yankees games on TV but I just had to see this guy pitch whenever I could
