How often do you polish your silver?
And no, that's not a euphemism.

9. The tarnish
actually protects the silver...so you shouldn't polish until you need it....so I've heard...

11. Every five years or so
A jeweller friend told me years ago that it's the acids in the food that cause the tarnish, and the way to stop that is to put your cutlery (and silver dishes if any)into a bucket of water (no soap)the minute it comes from the table. Then wash up as normal when you're ready, dry, give it a quick wipe with an anti-tarnish cloth and store it in a closed cupboard. It works.

Otherwise I keep it locked up with anti-tarnish strips.

we pulled a bunch of it out of the garage last year to use for my darling daughter's 10th bd tea party. It was quite the fancy affair....

in a cake pan (must be metal or line a glass one with tin foil) pour boiling water in the pan. You then put the silverware in the pan for a couple of minutes, take it out, rinse it and you have sparkling clean silver. Then do what Hedgehog says!

19. 3 or 4 times daily. Compulsively. Obsessively.
Sometimes I wake up the butler and the head footman and have them haul out the silver and polish it, because I just can't abide the thought of it lying there in the dark, tarnishing, tarnishing away. Seeing my houseguests eat with it brings me to the point of screaming, and don't even get me started on the chafing dishes and the candelabra. I'm almost as protective of the family crystal, but at least it doesn't tarnish. :yoiks:
