this makes me wonder if the bee gees were paedophiles
Oh, girl I've known you very well
I've seen you growing everyday
I never really looked before
but now you take my breath away.
Suddenly you're in my life
part of everything I do
you got me working day and night
just trying to keep a hold on you.

Here in your arms I found my paradise
my only chance for happiness
and if I lose you now I think I would die.

Oh say you'll always be my baby
we can make it shine, we can take forever
just a minute at a time.

More than a woman, more than a woman to me
more than a woman, more than a woman to me
more than a woman, oh, oh, oh.

There are stories old and true
of people so in love like you and me
and I can see myself
let history repeat itself.

Reflecting how I feel for you
thinking about those people then
I know that in a thousand years
I'd fall in love with you again.

This is the only way that we should fly
this is the only way to go
and if I lose you I know I would die.

Oh say you'll always be my baby
we can make it shine, we can take forever
just a minute at a time.

More than a woman, more than a woman to me
more than a woman, more than a woman to me
more than a woman, oh, oh, oh.

the juxtaposition of "girl," "baby," and "woman" is confusing to say the least.

However, I guess you can say he advocates waiting till they are

4. You think that's bad - what about this:
YOUNG GIRL - 22/05/1968
4 weeks at #1 - 17 weeks on chart

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth, woah

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know that it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes, woah

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

So hurry home to your mama
I'm sure she wonders where you are
Get out of here, before I have the time
To change my mind
'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far, woah

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

6. Sam Cooke and Dr Hook "Only Sixteen"
ONLY SIXTEEN
Dr Hook

She was only sixteen, only sixteen
But I loved her so
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know

We'd laugh and we'd sing and do funny things
And it made our hearts glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know

So why did I give my heart so fast
It never will happen again
But I was a mere child of sixteen
I've aged a year since then

She was only sixteen, only sixteen
Ooh, with eyes that would glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know

So why did I give my heart so fast
It never will happen again
But I was a mere child of sixteen
I've aged a year since then

Now she was only sixteen, only sixteen
Ooh, but I loved that girl so

But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know

Yes, she was too young to fall in love
And I, I was too young
I was much too young to know

39. The protagonist of the song is also 16 in that song, not quite the same
"I was a mere child of sixteen, I've aged a year since then"

This was written from the perspective of a 17 year old.

9. Into the night
Into The Night
by Benny Mardones

She's just sixteen years old
leave her alone, they say.
Separated by fools
who don't know what love is yet,
but i want you to know

If i could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
and show you a love
like you've never seen - ever seen...

It's like having a dream
where nobody has a heart.
It's like having it all
and watching it fall apart
and I would wait till the end
of time for you
and do it again, it's true...
I can't measure my love
there's nothing to compare it to
but I want you to know

11. is it possible for a song to just be a song
and not have any real hidden meaning in the lyrics?

another option would be that they grew up together. I watched my husband grow up, as he did me, because we've known eachother since we were 12.

30. My future ex
is a song writer. I once asked him about a beautiful song he had written...about the story behind it...who "she" was...how he chose the words...

He told me there was no story. No woman, no love. He just thought it sounded good. That was as deep as it went. It was just a song.

Love you so much, cant count all the ways
Id die for you girl, and all they can say is
Hes not your kind

They never get tired of puttin me down
And I never know when I come around
What Im gonna find
Dont let them make up your mind
Dont you know

Girl, youll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Soon youll need a man

Ive been misunderstood for all of my life
But what theyre sayin, girl, just cuts like a knife
The boys no good

Well, I finally found what Ive been looking for
But if they get the chance, theyll end it for sure
Sure they would
Baby, Ive done all I could
Its up to you

Girl, youll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Soon youll need a man

15. This was #2 in the US October 28, 1972.
CLAIR (Music & lyrics: Gilbert O'Sullivan)

Clair, the moment I met you I swear

I felt as if something somewhere

Had happened to me

Which I couldn't see

And then

The moment I met you again

I knew in my heart that we were friends

It had to be so

It couldn't be no

But try as hard as I might do I don't know why

You get to me in a way I can't describe

Words mean so little when you look up and smile

I don't care what people say

To me you're more than a child

Oh Clair, Clair

Clair, if ever a moment so rare

Was captured for all to compare

That moment is you

In all that you do

But why in spite of our age difference do I cry

Each time I leave you I feel I could die

Nothing means more to me than hearing you say

"I'm going to marry you

Will you marry me Uncle Ray?"

Oh Clair, Clair

Clair, I've told you before

Don't you dare

Get back into bed

Can't you see that it's late

No you can't have a drink

Oh, all right then but wait just a bit

While I, in an effort to baby sit

Catch of my breath what there is left of it

You can be murder at this hour of the day

But in the morning this hour

Will seem a lifetime away

Oh Clair, Clair

Well, I used to pull your pigtails
And pinch your turned-up nose
But you been a-growin'
And baby, it's been showin'
From your head down to your toes

Little sister, don't you
Little sister, don't you
Little sister, don't you kiss me once or twice
Then say it's very nice
And then you run...

Little sister, don't you
Do what your big sister done.

I assume "what your big sister done" means move on to someone healthier.

23. Everyone's Gone to the Movies - Steely Dan:
Kids if you want some fun
Mr. LaPage is your man
He's always laughing, having fun
Showing his films in the den
Come on, come on
Soon you will be eighteen
I think you know what I mean
Don't tell your mama
Your daddy or mama
They'll never know where you been

CHORUS:
Everyone's gone to the movies
Now we're alone at last

Listen to what I say
He wants to show you the way
Right down the hallway with open arms
To teach you a new game to play
Come on, come on
Soon it will be too late
Bobbing for apples can wait
We know you're used to sixteen or more
Sorry we only have eight

CHORUS

Kids if you want some fun
See what you never have seen
Take off your cheaters and sit right down
Start the projection machine

Down at the disco,
I go solo
And the girls don't wanna know,
I've been too slow.
And that's alright,
And that's ok,
In the middle of the night.
Here's Lisa.

Chorus
And when you see her
You wish you could ?? her.
Ain't no one can beat her.
She goes yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, "you're my daddy."

which made me uncomfortable:

Morning Girl

Mornin' girl, how'd ya sleep last night
You're several ages older now
Your eyes have started showin' how
The little girls growin' now

Mornin' girl, was that you last night
Crying on the radio
Beggin' for a way to go
To go back where love wasn't jumbled so

Oh, no, things are different now than they were before
You know love is more than kisses
A whole lot more

Mornin' girl, put your dreams away
And read your box of Cheerios
And powder-puff that pretty nose
And go out and find your man where the wild wind blows
Mornin' girl

37. Maybe they grew up together (girl next door type thing)?
How about Jim Croce's "Five Short Minutes of Love"?

Well, she was standing by my dressing room after the show
Asking for my autograph and asked if she could go
Back to my motel room. But the rest is just a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail

Well, like a fool in a hurry I took her to my room
She casted me in plaster while I sang her a tune
Then I said, "Ooh, ooee!" Sure was a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail

Well, then a judge and a jury sat me in a room
They say that robbin' the cradle is worse than robbin' the tomb
Then I said "Ooh, ooee!" Sure was a tragic tale
(Wasn't worth it, wasn't worth it!)
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail

And when I get out of this prison gonna be forty-five
I'll know I used to like to do it but I won't remember why
(Wasn't worth it, wasn't worth it!)
I'll say "Ooh, ooee! Sure was a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail

Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail
