Denture questions....
First off, why do people leave the house without their teeth? :puke:

And what is UP with the horrible incessant face sucking? :puke: :puke:

1. I don't know why
"people" leave the house without their teeth, but one of the funniest things in our family lore was the time that my dad, a total control freak who had to take the kitchen sink and a plunger whenever the family went on a picnic, realized that he had left the choppers at home once we got to the picnic area--hours from home.

2. I have one....
My brother had this girlfriend whose mom and dad had gone to dinner with them. Mom had gotten pretty wasted, and barfed from the side of the car as they arrived home. Dad had to retrieve the teeth. 'Nuff said. :puke:

3. They leave the house without them...
...because they're fucking painful! My cousin wears them, she lost her teeth because of meds she has to take. The first thing she takes out when she gets home (even before taking off the bra, and women know what I mean) is her teeth. And if she thinks she can get away with leaving them out (for instance, to simply drive to my aunt's house to feed the cats while my aunt is out of town, she will). I don't blame her, I would too.

Maybe you should try to be a little more compassionate toward those who have medical challenges! I wouldn't have added this last sentence, if you had been thoughtful enough to leave off the pukes!

4. I have to agree with you on this one.
I know too many people who have lost teeth because of medication.

5. It's permanent!
My cousin (who I grew up with in the same household) was 45 when she lost her teeth, now she's 49! I know how painful they are for her, and in her case they weren't covered, as they often are not seen as medically necessary...so she had to take what she could afford! As a result, she doesn't eat well at all, and she's very self-conscious. She gets by pretty well going out without the lowers...I can't tell if she has them in or not. But the uppers are very painful.

I have funny stories about elderly relatives and there denture...my grandmother (she didn't have her glasses on) accidentally flushed her uppers down the toilet, and it was a week or so before she had replacements. However, I have complete sympathy for anyone who has to wear them...I've heard it compared to the pain of wearing a prosthetic leg.

6. I have bridges due to medication.
Anything other than real teeth is a PAIN.
